What is your opinion of YouTubers such as Sargon of Akkad, Thunderf00t, Shoe0nHead and Armoured Skeptic?

The entire ecosystem of YouTube “celebrities” is a fucking garbage fire. A toxic circle-jerk cesspit of no-talent attention whores.

I can’t stand their smart-ass, preaching-to-the-choir, sarcastic, trashy presentation of what should be fairly trivial pieces of information. (A classic example of the sort of thing that grates my nerves is when you can tell a “spontaneous laugh” has been written into the script and they’re on the fifth take.)

I understand that this is what gets them views, and hence money, but I wish they would just say that instead of pretending to be interested in genuine debate or discussion.

I know people who watch these videos and honestly believe they’re getting an education on these issues.

I’ve always thought that someone should post parody videos of Thunderf00t ranting against feminism in the atheist movement by ranting against Thunderf00t’s personality and beliefs in a voice and style similar to his (the same form of satire as this classic). I’d especially like to hear this YouTuber reading out long angry quotes from Thunderf00t in a mocking high-pitched voice, with the smug air that these quotes contain self-evident over-the-top hysteria.

Too bad I’m not good enough with British accents to pull off anything like this, but I think sooner or later someone else should.
