It is possible, but unlikely I will finish tomorrow. I still have another four hours to go, according to the app.

In this session I found out about Will’s curse. One sister died already, Ella. I don’t know if the statement about his sister being dead was regarding her or to the fact that Cecily is marked for death because of his curse or if she has died already and Mortmain has brought her back. I’m still a little confused about that. Will wants to go into the Demon realm to end his curse. I think he might end up doing that, though not in this book. Apparently the events of the third book inform the events of the last Mortal Instruments book, so I believe he will enter the Demon world and they might do the same in the Mortal Instruments. If not, I am not sure yet what the major connection is.

Jem and Tessa had their moment, and I thought it was beautiful. She cares deeply for both boys and even with knowing what is behind Will’s temperament; I prefer Jem. I think Will understands her better, but Jem offers her friendship on top of love. Who knows how it will turn out. I mean, a lot of you do, but I don’t.

I know one character in another of the Shadowhunter series is a Carstairs so I kind of believe that Tessa and Jem end up together and she can have kids. Or maybe he finds someone else. 

Nice to get a glimpse of Ragnor Fell, knowing what happens to him.

I finished with them having had their meeting with the Scott, the leader of London’s pack werewolves. I think he is a delightful character.

And, I am still wondering what Jessamine is up to.

I had a quick reading session today. I wished I had gotten into it more, but I was busy with other things.

I stopped right after the Camille chapter where we met Lady Belacourt and found out the entire plan of infiltrating the De Quincey party. It is interesting. I wonder how often Camille will come by to help her practice her mannerisms. I guess they have a week to get it figured out. I don’t feel like a lot happened during my session, just got introduced to something that helps move the plot along.

Magnus Bane will come in soon, so that will be fun. I wonder how he wears his hair in this series.

I managed to complete it in time!!

So, I enjoyed the book a lot, but I feel that it was mainly about character development and trying to resolve the blossoming love triangle. Not that I feel it has been resolved, not truly.

I always love getting the character’s backstory, so I appreciate all that we learned about Will, his family, and his curse. I think Will is a character meant to break our hearts. Maybe they all our because there is a deep sadness for Jem too, but just the devastation of knowing that the things you did were unnecessary, but also believing that no one loved you because everyone lived. 

I hate what happened to Jessamine’s character. I know she didn’t want to become a Shadowhunter, but I didn’t think she would betray everyone. Tessa handing her the little doll and saying it was Baby Jessie about broke my heart. I hope there is a redemption arc or some kind of happy ending for her. These characters are children really, they all make awful choices. It makes me wonder if this will continue to be a theme in The Infernal Devices. Will there be another spy in Clockwork Princess?

I wish more would have been found out about the Magister, but I imagine the last book will be all about him.

If I want to finish this book before June starts, I will have to do some major reading over the next two days. 

Our trio has just returned from the York Institute and Will has had a nasty shock. That Starkweather is an awful guy. So stuck in the good ol’ days that he doesn’t believe the treatment of Downworlders has ever been horrible and thinks they are too nice to them now. His spoils room was disgusting. 

So, Cecily is Will’s sister. I didn’t know he had one. I know the name was mentioned by him in the last book, but I don’t think any family connection was mentioned. He said she 9 when he left, like he expected her to be older, but then he also said she was dead. So I guess she must have died later on and he found out about and Mortmain has possibly reanimated her and made her an automaton. If so, that is just awful. 

The next chapter is called The Curse. It seems Will’s curse, which he has had for five years, he got when he left his family and joined the Shadowhunters. Or does the Curse have to do with Jem? Maybe it will be explained because it connects to his sister. Cursed to bring her back possibly? I look forward to getting into it more.

I haven’t slept in 24 hours and I am crashing. I just got in my time.

I got in another chapter. They’ve just left London and arrived at Starkweather’s Institute. Sophie and Tessa overheard the argument between Gideon and Gabriel where it seems like Gideon knows that is father might be up to something bad. 

Tessa will pretend to be engaged to Jem as a cover story for Starkweather, but I doubt he believes that. 

I wonder if the story will stay with Will, Jem, and Tessa or move back and forth between the institutes. I hope it does. I want to see what Jessamine is getting up to in men’s clothing and how the Lightwood brothers interact with those left behind.

I read two chapters tonight. I went through the initial training chapter and then them finding out about Mortmain’s parents.

Cyril and Bridget have been introduced and so has Gideon, the other Lightwood brother.

Gabriel was nice enough to Tessa during training so I wonder if that means he will be a diligent trainer and kind of decent guy or if he plans on messing with Tessa. 

The two chapters were about moving things along I guess. I know the book synopsis talks about traveling, so will they suspend their new training duties to go figure out stuff about Mortmain or will Charlotte take that over and everyone else stays at the Institute?

I am intrigued by Will’s curse. I wonder what it could be. Maybe hints have already been given and I don’t remember them or can’t connect them. This will probably be my last book of the month, at least I hope I finish it before the end of the month.

I am so happy I have Scribd on my phone. I didn’t feel like getting out of bed, so I just laid there and read.

The De Quincey party is over and he has escaped. Tessa is reunited with her brother. I am not surprised he got away; I figured he would to move the story along. I wonder if he is the big baddie of the series. This means that Camille is exposed as a traitor now and I am sure she will be very unhappy about everything. 

I have a feeling something bad will happen with her brother. Either he will betray them or he’ll die. I believe nothing good will come from them being reunited, but we shall see.

I am debating if I want to read more tonight or go to bed.

I continued on with the Shadowhunter series. I think the writing in this is better than The Mortal Instruments. I expect her brother might be dead, but the book will follow the mystery of his disappearance until then. I wonder if she had something of Nate’s if she could change into him and figure out if he was alive or not. I am not sure how her power works. I thought at first she could only change into the dead, but she just changed into Jessamine, so I guess she can become anyone. The Silent Brother said she is an unfamiliar type of shape-changer, so I hope that gets explored in this book. I don’t know the scope of The Infernal Devices series, so I don’t know if any characters introduced now will be in the later books. I’ve only just gotten into the story, so I don’t know too much yet. I would like to figure out what makes Jessamine so angry and learn more about each Shadowhunter.
