Febroary day 22 - Amur tiger

Visited Birmingham Al this weekend to go see Alanis Morissette in concert. Also stopped by the zoo in the area which was actually quite nice but I think because it was the middle of the weekday a lot of the animals were not available for view. But either way the weather was nice. We had a really good time. I know Birmingham has a reputation for being violent but all the areas we went to were quite nice so.

I was so pooped yesterday by the time we got home. I did manage to finish an illustration but it was such a multiweek process because I havent been home. That kills your flow and I ruined the first attempt at this. So apparently my masking fluid will rip the paper of my claire fontaine paint on paper which I didn't test before using. So normally I'd just abandon ship and give up but I quite liked the original drawing so I ended up tracing it in my normal sketchbook and painting it for a second time. This is normally a terrible idea too because I had to trace into this new sketchbook (luckily Id taken photos of the original sketch prior to painting the first time around) but tracing generally has an obvious traced look about it. All the fine lines and details just dont transfer over so I did put in a bit of effort but it really killed my groove.

my next project I think I want to draw a snake maybe? I got a new pastel watercolor set I want to try which its silly how I ended up with that...so we'll see. Im going to spend today trying to maybe splice together video for youtube of the making of the above illustration and I need to go to the gym as I havent been in days.
