The Siblings Drew Never Knew
For those that only know Wereworld through Wolf King, Drew was the youngest of the Wergar and Amelie’s children.
In canon, Drew had four older siblings who Leopold killed alongside Wergar (as well as two of Wergar’s own brothers). And that is all the lore we have for them. All we know is that they existed and they died.
So let’s have some fun making them characters.
Just two things to note before we delve further.
Firstly, I’m writing this with Pack Parenting in mind. Wergar x Amelie x Tilly x Mack are canon to me. You can pry this four-way polycule out of my cold dead hands. Every headcanon I have for these four will apply. (Ie only the Wolf’s Council knew about them being a thing)
Secondly, I’m also working under the assumption that the ‘old generation’ ( aka Wergar’s generation) are currently in their fifties. Save for Mikkel (early-mid 40s) and Vega (mid-late 30s), who are obviously younger.
With that out of the way, let’s start with the eldest.
Birth Parents: Amelie and Wergar
Age (at death): ~20 (would be ~35 in RotW)
Cause of Death: Silvered Sword through her back (executed by Leopold)
- Born not long after Amelie and Wergar’s wedding alongside her twin Tikaani. (~6 months after to be exact)
- Heiress to Westland’s throne
- The best and worst of her parents
- As a White Wolf, had she ascended to the throne, she would’ve been the first non-Grey Wolf to rule Westland in 700 years.
- She bore Indigenous Shadowhaven tattoos in respect to her mothers’ heritage.
- Due to her father’s unexpected rise to the throne, Anya had to be fast tracked to learning her responsibilities as heir. As such her teenage years were spent more in the court and classroom than anywhere else.
- Anya was quite the bachelorette. With many young lords and ladies vying for her hand. Notable names include Earl Mikkel, Lord Rook, Vorhaas and Vorjavik, and rumor has it Vega once tried his luck.
- After Wergar and his brothers were executed, Anya offered the throne and her hand to Leopold’s in exchange for mercy for her remaining family. After Leopold publicly chopped off Griffyn’s wings with a silvered sword, he brought her onto the platform for an announcement. Anya thought he had accepted her offer. Instead, he plunged the sword into her back. To him, the beloved heir of Wergar was just another obstacle to the throne.
Birth Parents: Amelie and Wergar
Age (at death): ~20 (would be ~35 in RotW)
Cause of Death: Dark Magik (Assassinated by Vankaskan)
- Born a couple hours after his twin sister Anya. (Enough to be born the day after her)
- His second born status freed him to explore his interests in magistry. Eventually training to become a magister.
- Vankaskan tried to offer himself as Tikaani’s teacher, but was passed over in favor of Lady Greta and the Daughters of Icegarden. A choice that may have led to the Rat King aligning themselves with Leopold. And to Tikaani’s death at Vankaskan’s hand.
- His training took him all across Lyssia. Usually as a guest of various members of the Wolf’s Council. Often being closer to them than his own father.
- Despite being as popular amongst potential suitors and mistresses as Anya, Tikaani never entertained the thought of being married.
- Though there were rumors that said he had fallen in love with a Jackalord in Omir. He never confirmed nor denied these claims.
- Tikaani did join his father, Wergar, in his campaign to conquer Azra.
- When word of Leopold taking Highcliff reached them, Tikaani rushed back in hopes of saving his siblings and mother from the Lion. With the help of Vanmorten, he was able to get into Highcliff keep unseen. Only to get backstabbed by Vankaskan. The first Wolf to fall.
Birth Parents: Amelie and Mack
Age (at death): ~8 (would be ~23 in RotW)
- The result of Mack being ‘properly’ dragged into the existing relationship of Tilly, Amelie and Wergar. While he had been on the fringes before, the event that led to Alric’s unexpected conception was his first time with the other three.
- Alric was a proud and knightly little boy. Often pretending to be a Longfang (an elite soldier of the Wolfguard) like Mack.
- He would often challenge his guards to sparing sessions with his wooden sword against their steel one. Most of his wins were lost on purpose. Though he would eventually catch on.
- Despite not being his, Wergar still cared for and treated Alric as his own. The two of them would often be seen bonding over their love of battle with Wergar retelling tales of wars long past.
- Alric never learned that Mack was his birth father, then again the boy never really knew the actual nature of the relationship between Amelie, Wergar, Tilly and Mack. All he knew was he had two dads and two moms. A fact he loved to brag about.
- When Leopold took Highcliff, and after the Lion publicly executed Anya, Alric — with a small saber in hand — challenged the Lionlord to single combat. Before Leopold cut the boy down, Amelie begged him to spare her son and remaining daughter, Paluk. Though he did, for a time, Alric would be found dead in his room not long after Amelie was confirmed to be pregnant with Lucas. No cause of death was ever determined.
Birth Parents: Wergar and Tilly
Age (at death): ~5 (would be ~20 in RotW)
Cause of Death: Unknown (Illness was blamed)
- Paluk was born prematurely, during which complications arose that left her paralyzed from the waist down. Requiring a wheelchair be built for her.
- Regardless, she was a vivacious, cheerful and enchanting soul. Loved by all within Highcliff keep.
- The women’s quarters in Wolf King was formerly Paluk’s bed chambers. She loved watching people coming and going from Highcliff out the window.
- Though Tilly nor Wergar confessed to their daughter the nature of her birth, there was some suspicion that Paluk was somewhat aware she wasn’t Amelie’s.
- Her and Amelie still had a strong relationship. The Queen attentively listening to her daughter (in all but blood) recalling the various things she witnessed on any given day.
- She had a close friendship with Manfred’s son Reinhardt. The two were nigh inseparable whenever the Staglords visited. Had history gone differently, the two would’ve been married in present day.
- Unlike any of her other siblings (including Drew), Paluk never showed the ability to transform. That, combined with her occasional bouts of extreme fever, led to her four parents wondering if she wasn’t a Werelord at all.
- Paluk was spared Leopold’s blade alongside her brother Alric. But the Lion kept her confined to her bed chambers. And would’ve let her starve or die of neglect had the castle staff not had as deep a love of their princess. The day after Lucas was born, Paluk was found dead in her bed. Seemingly having passed in the night. Leopold allowed for a small sentimental funeral for her, to placate the staff. He insisted her death was the result of illness, but many suspected a darker cause.
- To end on a happy note, Paluk was Drew’s favorite in the little time she had with her baby brother.
- When you start thinking about Drew’s older siblings and putting them in the timeline, Vega being in Wergar’s personal circle becomes hilarious. Because he’s around the same age as Wergar’s eldest children. He basically adopted another kid.
- When creating these characters, I had the funny thought of what if Gretchen’s additional titles “The Evenstar of the Seven Realms” and “The Light of Lyssia Herself” were originally associated with Drew’s sisters?
- I think, had there been no catlord invasion, Trent would’ve been raised as another child in this family. Wergar might even try to make him a prince. Though Tilly and Mack would definitely insist it wasn’t necessary.
