[That sugar makes people go "hmm." Memories are time beings. All right. That's a big burger. There's a lot going on here.]
Vaykind
Beings of time, the Vay are named after Vayla herself out of respect for how much she oversees. There aren’t as many Vay as there are among the other classes of beings, but it can be argued that there are more because some of them are not fixed to one point in time. They are as mysterious and difficult to pin down as the goddess they’re named for.
The abilities of the Vay are inextricably linked to time. Some are more attached to the time of day, and others to the day of the week. Since they tend to look human and can even blend in among humans most of the time, sometimes the abilities may crop up much to their own surprise as much as anyone else’s. Some of the more documented Vaykind include:
Prophets, people who can see the future, are not to be mistaken with spellcasters who use magic to look forward in time. With Prophets, it is an innate ability that can lay dormant for generations among humans with Vay bloodlines.
Season witches wax and wane with the turning of the seasons. White (winter), Red (summer), Green (spring), and Gold (autumn) witches are most powerful at their respective solstice/equinox.
Time knights are able to step through time. There aren’t many of them, and they have strict rules about what they can do when they emerge in a new time. Their view of time is fractured compared to Vayla’s all-encompassing, linear view, and they pray to her often for guidance.
The Dreen(?)(hat people) really remind me of Jaggers.
So, either they are evolved Jaggers,
The jaggerdraught has some sort of time connection,
Or a secret third thing.
fun fact: kaiser is 9 and temps is 13
memory of a sunny day
time babs fic
It was a bright, sunny day. The children were playing in the puddles left by the sudden rainstorm, laughing and splashing as they got mud all over each other. Their parents watched lovingly from the shade of a nearby tree. “Rachie, don’t throw mud pies at your brother!” Their mother tried to hold back laughter as her oldest threw a clump of mud and hit her sibling on the back of the head. He shrieked in surprise before balling up his own mud and tossing it at his older sibling. “Ha! I got you, I got you!” “Ew, some of it got into my mouth!” The children’s voices echoed in the empty park. They played the day away, until they wobbled over to their parents, covered in mud and smiling brightly. They fell asleep while their parents carried them home. Kaiser watched his older sibling dream peacefully. She was smiling in her sleep, so he thought she must be remembering something pleasant. He left her alone to check on their next mark, a mister John Willacker. He would make a good feast, since he lived such a long time.
oooo ooo i figured out some ssstuff abt the time beings! ok, so you know how people get older? what happens to all the time they have leave behind as their lives fly by? well, the time beings’ job is to collect alll that used time and either eat it or recycle it for newborn babies to use up! they act as reapers in their universe, and people can only see them when they’re really young or close to death.
