Words cannot describe what this song emotionally means to me. The music itself is so etherial and beautiful, but this is a song that's been with me through so many years.

Without a doubt one of my all time favorite video game tracks

Wait actually, why did Time Gears even exist? The fact that when placed in their spots at Temperal Tower, they became impossible to remove implies that they were always meant to be placed in the tower. Were they created by a legendary (possibly Arceus) with the intention of placing them in Temporal Tower? If so, how did they end up separated the way the were?

The only logical explanation I can come up with is that whoever made them didn't intend for their removal to stop time in the area in which they were made and decided it was safer to just leave them.

Honestly there are so many aspects of PMD2's world building that aren't even questioned in-game, much less explained.

when it comes to living close to the time gears, what is it like? is it different from living far away from them?

Keaton: Based on our records, things largely stay the same which helps mask the Time Gears. They'd hardly be hidden if you could tell where they were due to large, gaping time holes or what-have-you.

... But that said, you can still examine mineral content and growth of flora to narrow down potential locations. The "time" within a mystery dungeon seems to move slightly more than usual anywhere a Time Gear may be located. This isn't really perceptible to pokemon living within a dungeon, but it can be observed between samples taken from different sources. Time Gears are also always kept within a lake to help further protect them, so our method of tracking them involves lots of water samples from all around the globe.

As some of you may know, both Galaxies Above and the Glitch AU hit 10 chapters last Tuesday (I already made a post to celebrate my milestone here)! And coincidentally on the same day! When I realized the parallels, I asked @volcanicbakemeat, the creator of the Glitch AU if they wanted to do a collab showcasing both our characters and stories; and as you can see they said yes. Volcanic drew the sketch on the left, and then I digitized it as seen on the right. It was interesting to collab with you!

For anyone that hasn’t read the Glitch AU, I highly recommend taking a look! The chapters are a bit shorter than they are in Galaxies Above, but the characters are really lovable (Volcanic likes using pokemon that no one else seems to consider most of the time, which is nice) and they have an original plot! So if you like pokemon mystery dungeon, go ahead and take a peak at their story.

Some of my headcanons about how Team Galaxy and Team Eventide would interact with each other under the cut!

there would be a discussion running for at least a week about which cafe is better

Blair and Keahi would get along really well while Runa and Nelvana would get along well (both because of their personalities, the partners are easily excitable while the humans are a bit more reserved)

Nelvana would figure out that Runa is a human before she would be able to figure out that Nel is also one (although once Nel confronts Runa she’d confess that she’s also human)

they would find it very interesting that not only are Nel and Runa from different time periods, but also from other worlds

Blair gets really hyped when talking about rescue teams and is stoked when they find out Nel and Keahi are already a team and climbing the ranks quickly

Blair challenges Nel to a spar and loses instantly due to being overconfident

Runa finds out they can “cheat” flying by using Keahi’s fire attacks/hot air to be lifted up in the air

Runa and Nel (accidentally at first) have conversations speaking in the human language and confuse everyone

Legendary Artifacts: The Time Gears

Description & History:  The time gears are mysterious artifacts that appear in the folklore of many cultures across time and space. They are believed to regulate the flow of time in a region of the world. Supposedly, on inhabited worlds, there is more than one Time Gear.  

Some cultures believe exclusively in the Time Gears, others only in Dialga, and others who believe in both, who reconcile these beliefs with a tale: The Lord of Time (Dialga) is a real tangible entity, a being tasked with the responsibility of controlling the flow of time throughout the universe and across dimensions, and is itself the living embodiment of time. But Dialga cannot be everywhere at once, it cannot be in every nook and cranny and strange dimension at all times, nor does it want to be, and constantly being pulled to all corners and planes of the universe to control unwinding time and time that has gone out of control, is exhausting, especially in an ever-expanding universe (thanks, Palkia). A long, long, long, time ago, Dialga decided to splinter off fragments of its power into devices called the Time Gears, pieces of itself that would be placed in all corners and planes of the universe. There, these magical devices would regulate the flow of time in Dialga’s stead, and immune to all destruction except for by Dialga or Arceus. Dialga focused on regions of space-time with its own celestial bodies, such as planets and stars, black holes and nebulae, and so on.

There are, of course, other versions of this story in other worlds and cultures, one where the Children of Dialga, the Celebis (who have the power to travel across times and timelines), discovered a future where time had stopped because of the death of Dialga. Upon hearing this story, Dialga chose to take precautions and split its power into the Time Gears, ensuring that time would always flow even in its death in some bleak future.

Other stories still tell many variations of Dialga and the Time Gears, stories spun a thousand and one different ways for a thousand and one worlds.

But why are there three? One tale tells of Dialga’s uncertainty in the face of its own death, wanting extra insurance that the time of worlds where others lived, continued to function even in its absence. Another tale tells of an ancient villain, who sought to bring about the End of Time and found for himself the Spear of Arceus, a legendary weapon made from the body of Arceus (see: The Spear of Arceus) that is said to shatter even celestial objects. This villain found Earth’s only Time Gear, summoning Dialga—some claim that Dialga was slain in this conflict but was rebirthed in due time by the forces of the universe, and others still claim that Dialga was never slain and instead brought divine judgement upon the villain who had so foolishly tried to slay Time. But in each of these stories, they all agree on one thing: Dialga couldn’t risk another incident, and decided to give Earth additional Time Gears just incase.
