Some words Sunday
Thank you so much @kira-7 for the tag 😘💖
As usual, I've been slowly writing this Persuasion AU with the Doctor and Donna, since I'm consistent/predictable. And I had another long writing opportunity sitting for hours in a hospital waiting room, like you do.
Snippet from "A Little Persuasion"
Sadly, she had only left the Jones’ home a few minutes when Martha had telephoned her mother, asking Francine for some urgent information. By the sound of it, Martha had been trapped in some sort of escape room situation and getting the answers right to some pub quiz general knowledge thing had been the means of getting out.
Francine had described to Donna, in great detail, how she had floundered getting her computer to boot up in order to search for the right answers about the Beatles bibliography. “She didn’t bother to answer my questions about the Doctor,” Francine bitterly commented. “Anyone would think she’s hiding something.”
She probably is, Donna mentally agreed. Something alien and scary. Shame she hadn’t been there. It would have taken her seconds to access the information Martha needed from Francine. “How did you cope on your own?”
“That nice woman from the council office was here to help give me moral support.”
“The who?” Donna frowned. “What woman?”
“Miss Dexter, she said she was called. Part of a new directive Harold Saxon has instigated. Haven’t you met her yet?”
“No,” Donna admitted. Why would the Prime Minister care about any of this? It sounded fishy, so she cautiously asked, “What does she look like?” When Francine raised an eyebrow, she added airily, “You know, so that I can help with the Doctor monitoring stuff, if need be.”
“Let me think,” Francine pondered, whilst drawing up a clear mental image of the governmental visitor. “Blonde, dressed in a smart business suit. Similar age to Martha, but taller; about 5ft 10ins. Very professional manner but friendly. She even offered to record my phone call from Martha so that we could listen to it later.”
I bet she did. “That was nice of her,” Donna trilled instead.
Francine briefly smiled before a grimace returned to her expression. “The sooner I can get my daughter back the better.”
“And we will get her back,” Donna comforted her, laying a hand on Francine’s forearm. “Just you wait and see.”
