A Note On... Cats and Times
Timelie is a time-manipulating puzzle game by Urnique Studio!
So the main character's eyes in this game a little bit wonky. That's about as bad a thing I've got to say about this game, other than a few level hiccups I had.
Timelie's main feature is the main character's foresight ability. Which is a damn cool concept. You solve puzzle by activating switches, having other things activate switches, and rebuilding bridges to get to the goal.
Did I mention there's a cat? And did I mention it sits on top of your head in the level hub?
What I love about the main mechanic (foresight) is that time sensitive puzzles are way less frustrating! I really, really don't like puzzles that are time sensitive. For whatever reason, they just don't jive with me. Maybe it's because they simply require a higher level of execution, while being a relatively simple solution. Anyways, Timelie makes takes those puzzles out of real time so they're not time sensitive, but still require timing! Which is amazing (for me in particular).
The story is kind of coherent? It's hard to say what really happens throughout the course of the game. It feels likes you're trying to escape some oppressive facility that doubles as an office building, collecting items as you go. When you think too hard, it's a little bare bones.
But the feeling is there. Getting chased by the obviously faster robot enemies is not fun. Finding the moments when you can eke out a solution is satisfying. And the overall narrative up nicely in the finale.
Timelie is a very solid puzzle experience for everyone that I think is worth trying.
As always,
Enjoy Gaming!

And this latest edition was a tricky one to pull off, because one, a large majority of developers being quite busy with Gamescom meant that there seemed to be slightly less offerings this time, and two, not only are we covering games and announcements from both Gamescom this weekend and PAX West the next weekend, but we also have to deal with the recent onslaught of games being released right now.
