I showed a WIP of this last week, and now here it is, all finished. For @rookfest, Saadrah in the other factions (based on "A Rook By Any Other Name" started by @chaosherald).
And slightly better previews:
Saadrah Mercar, Saadrah Aldwir, Rook Laidir, Ghost Ingellvar, Saadrah Thorne, and Saadrah de Riva
Yes, I assigned each of the factions a color to make a rainbow.
You can find the twists in her story that took her in a different direction in each timeline in the "Any Other Name" post linked above.
Poses from @adorkastock.
Some fun notes below the cut.
I did my best to draw the armors I'd assigned each of them in the original post, but with adjustments that I thought might suit them better, or concessions to myself when I didn't want to draw all the little tiny complicated details in Dragon Age armors.
Mercar's armor is lighter than the canon version, because in my head she wears light-colored armor to go with her "Ghost of Minrathous" identity. That whole "Ghost" thing actually stems from when she was my Inquisitor and I tinted all of her armor to be white because I thought it was fun to have someone in armor that should stand out but they're stealthy enough that it doesn't. When I made her my Rook instead, I carried that over.
I spaced out on Aldwir, thinking for some reason that the pose I'd referenced was holding the bow right-handed (it wasn't), so since Saadrah is meant to be left-handed, I flipped the lineart, redrew the sleeves because I had them backwards, and moved the scars over to the other side of her face. Then, a little bit later, it clicked that the pose was correct the first time (I wonder if the pose model is a lefty), so I had to flip it back, fix the scars again, and write off the sleeves as a lost cause because I didn't want to swap them again. That's just how her version of the armor is officially, now.
When I first drew Laidir, I had her swords curving in the opposite direction because it looked better, but then I realized that would mean holding the swords with the cutting edge on the wrong side for actual combat, and she wouldn't do that. Fixing that actually lead to a less extreme angle for her wrists, which I'm sure is much more comfortable for her.
I couldn't find a screenshot of the back of the Iron Cast armor and didn't feel like firing up the game just to look at it, so Ingellvar's armor may not be 100% canon on the back side. I wouldn't be surprised if there's actually spine and pelvis detail on it, given the rest of the anatomical design, but that's me making it up there and hoping I'm close enough. I also changed up her face paint to be a proper skull pattern.
For Thorne, I snuck the vertical stripes and scale of the DA2/DAI Warden armors into the torso of the Garb of Kinship, because the scale tabard is one of my favorite aspects of the older Warden armor.
De Riva is one of only two Rooks who's shown with the Crow dagger Lucanis gave her when they were children. The other is Aldwir, who has it sheathed at her hip. Mercar technically has it, but she keeps it at the small of her back. Laidir and Ingellvar likely had it taken from them when they were each taken prisoner, and Thorne probably lost or broke it in combat as a Warden.
I was trying to decide which of these timelines has the happiest Saadrah, and I think it's a tie between Mercar and de Riva. It's not perfect in either case (both of them have lost a parent, though it's a different one for each of them), but they probably have the least trauma and the most connection to family. Aldwir is probably close behind. After that would be a tie between Thorne and Laidir (both have Gone Through Some Things but started to climb back out of the pit enough to mostly recover by the time of the game's events). Ingellvar is the worst off, having experienced the most trauma, and having less time to recover from it.
this came to fruition when I noticed a hell of a lot of team seafoam on team seafoam violence going on! and what does one do when watching a scuffle outside of a supermarket?

Summary: He can’t say for certain that there are six alphas in there, just that that’s all he can smell; it’s impossible to pick out the number based on scent alone. But he can hear their voices. All six of them.
But –There are only alphas there.
