I want what I want, when I want it! Back in the day, before my drinking was noticeably out of control, alcohol have me exactly what I thought I wanted… relief. I’ve always been a little impatient, very much an I want what I want when I want it kind of gal. Call it what you want, learned behavior from social constructs, a symptom of the disease of alcoholism or the inability to delay gratification… Whatever you want to call if, sobriety has helped me to tame this particular beast. When I first got sober I wanted all of the benefits sobriety had to offer, and I wanted them immediately. I wanted peace, serenity, discernment, patience, acceptance, etc. Those things didn’t just magically manifest the moment I put the bottle down. They took time, and practice. T.I.M.E. takes time.
