A little more about the Part Chao AU, specifically the time spent when Shadow was healing as Little Shadow

Sonic was the one to find him. He didn’t really like Shadow, but he didn’t want anyone to get really hurt or die, so when Shadow hadn’t been seen by anyone for over 6 weeks, he felt worried and obligated to check on him. He didn’t know where he lived, so he checked all over until he found that cave where the mech suit was found.

Inside the cave, he eventually found a hoglet hiding from Sonic and watching him. The hoglet looked exactly like Shadow, except he didn’t have his gloves on. The shoes were a little bit big, but they still fit. Little Shadow was wary of him, but after some convincing, Sonic got him to come out of his hiding spot. That’s when he noticed something.

Little Shadow’s claws were bigger and sharper than a regular hedgehog’s, and his tail was definitely too long. It kind of reminded Sonic of the classic depiction of demons and the devil.

Sonic took Shadow to Tails to see if he could help in any way. Shadow was a little shorter than Tails, and Tails couldn’t help but laugh about it. When he got a hold of himself, he tried taking a blood sample from Shadow to figure out his weird features. As soon as Shadow realized what was happening, he freaked out and started trying to leave like his life depended on it. He even started crying and hyperventilating when Sonic picked him up and tried to bite him to get away.

Seeing how much he clearly didn’t want this, they both told him that they wouldn’t do it. Shadow still put distance between them. Then he retracted his tail. It just shrunk! Like it was pulled back into his body to look like a regular hedgehog tail! He was given a new pair of gloves after.

Shadow doesn’t eat. He says he can live off this “chaos energy” inside his body just fine and doesn’t eat. This worried Amy the most, but out of worry that his body might not react well to eating food after who knows how long, they didn’t push him to eat. Even though they were incredibly worried. One day, Shadow asked Amy if he was allowed to eat something off the snack plate she brought because it smelled so good.

Of course she said yes, but the fact that he thought he needed to ask for permission to eat was worrying. At least he ate something! He didn’t throw up or anything, thankfully. He just went to sleep.

Shadow likes to ride on Knuckles’ shoulders. If he’s around, Shadow will ask. Guess he just likes to be taller? Shadow climbs a lot, so maybe that’s it.

Shadow has healing powers, apparently. After an Eggman fight, Sticks returned with a broken arm. Shadow rushed to the couch and reached for her. He gently grabbed the cast and his quills started glowing red, then his hands glowed green. Sticks somehow remained still the whole time and slowly felt her arm hurt less and less, and when he let go, the aching was gone. They took another look at the bone, and it was completely healed!

Shadow looked ecstatic at this news and seemed a little proud of himself. They had no idea that he could do that or how, but they weren’t complaining.

Shadow’s a big hugger. He likes to give hugs and receive them. Knuckles gives the best comforting hugs because he’s able to squeeze him and Shadow likes the pressure.

Shadow once teleported to Sticks’ house because he was in public with the others for way too long and got very overstimulated. Because he was overwhelmed, though, his Black Arms features became more pronounced. His tail grew long again and his third eye was tearing up. Sticks was really startled and confused, but he was really upset and she decided to put her questions aside for now.

He stayed with her in silence for over an hour.

Shadow is still terrified of syringes, sharp objects, and surgical instruments. The scary part is now that he trusts them more, he stayed as still as he could and only asked how long it’ll take. When he was asked to explain, Shadow said something along the lines of “You need to test my regeneration abilities, right? That’s why you have the knife. To cut me with it.”

They were horrified that not only did Shadow think that the knife Amy had for cutting the food was to cut him, but that he was going to let them now that they were friends.

When Shadow realized he was going to turn back into an egg again, he went to Sonic’s hut and curled up, and a few hours later, he was back into an egg. This time, Team Sonic worked together to keep him warm and safe, and when he hatched as an adult, Sonic was met with a bit of a light show where the egg dissolved into a green light that was sucked into Shadow’s body.
