Turbos come in many shapes and sizes but all do the same job of forcing air into the engine, the bigger the turbo the larger the volume of air it can move. There is much more to a turbocharger than size though such as the A/R, compressor map and trim.

The two turbos in the photos show how much the size can vary from application to application; the smaller turbo is a Garrett M9 from a 1.2 Fiat Panda, the larger turbo is a KKK from a 17.5-litre diesel generator!
