Did people ever stop disliking Oberon's design? Like, good for Nasu that he likes what he got, but I feel like most people only came around to Oberon because of his ascension 3.

I'm sure there's still oberon design haters out there but it doesn't seem to be a particularly prevalent opinion anymore or at the least the haters have moved outside my field of vision

I don't get what's happening with PD and Rose in that "HesSwap" post?

As the game says Hessonite loses her Prism because of Rose Quartz, this AU starts with the premise “what if Hessonite won against Rose Quartz?”

Basically she didn’t think too much and shattered her as soon as she had the chance. After all, she was the leader of the enemies, right? Getting rid of her= end of the war.

BUT… she shattered her, and in that moment Rose’s form “glitched” and in horror Hessonite realised Rose=Pink. Her shattered gem confirmed it.

Emerald saw what had really happened, but the gems who came later just saw Pink’s shards and thought Hessonite was secretly a Crystal Gem, so the Diamonds decided to attack and corrupt all the gems on Earth.

Topaz, who doesn’t know anything, just thinks Hess shattered Rose Quartz and genuinely believes they can’t contact HW because they have no resource (but the truth is that Hess and Emerald destroyed every form of communication). On Homeworld, gems think Hess shattered Pink purposefully.

Steven will later find out both stories are true.

Sure, it would be really easy for us to just have Rose Quartz do it. But we’re not going to just copy things because they happen in canon. Pumpkin has special significance to the show specific storyline of Lapis and Peridot. We won’t put her here unless we have a good reason for her to be in the story. 

Plus, yes, Rose has plant powers. But apparently “Rose’s plants lived to fight”. Creating a cute little pumpkin dog to cheer up his friends is such an inherently Steeven-y move. Copying it for Rose just doesn’t make sense for her character.

I wonder how Lapis feels, now that she knows Peri was lying to her to make her feel better. Like, now she can't know if anything Peridot likes is true and not just something she pretends to like just for Lapis. Maybe I'm overreacting, but this feels like some heavy stuff.

Yeah, I think it’s got the potential to be pretty heavy.

I think that she’ll be fine once Peridot starts opening up more.  They’re in need of a heart-to-heart in order to sort these issues out.

OK, about HnK stuff. Manga started in late 2012. SU pilot aired in middle 2013, accounting for production time it started a bit earlier, but it could still be affected because plot was still being developed even in season 1. About similarities, I didn't watch it, but as far as I know similar things are: Both have immortal "female" sexless gem aliens. Both are (I think) ruled by authoritarian governments and all that stuff. And that's pretty much all, as far as I know.

I really wouldn't use the "sunflower argument" as much. Meanings of things tent to vary a lot, so the place where Crew checked their meaning may had something else entirely (assuming they did in the first place).

Oh yeah, totally!  It just seems a little bit too coincidencial that all the other sunflower meanings/symbolism checks out though.  I tdo hink the Crew picked this flower on purpose (unlike, say, the hydrangeas - which was just a throwaway line).
