... heelball marina parallels? (Please please please expand on them?? I'm so interested??)

you're never going to believe this but all my thoughts on this r related to Gender again

beyond just the barefootedness lol they're both kind of weird outsiders even among martial artist technician wrestlers, their styles are pretty singular. nobody does it the way she does it which when its a woman is seen fundamentally differently than if youre a guy* and the way that speedball is gendered as guy* is highly conditional and I think is essentially shifted for their heel presentation

was talkin last night abt the way marina is with gender like. shes in a stable with all dudes, dresses less flamboyantly than any of the other women, uses 'mothers milk' & gets called a 'matriarch' but isnt really mothering (if anyone in dr is its claudio lol) she just uses motherhood as an aesthetic, a tool, a taunt. she yells at people to do better. shes the mother that punishes you for a bad report card. she wants you to always be improving & learning.

the match I have seen between them is rly fun but also notably while speedball isnt doing their heel presentation for the audience, they do some of the taunting they tend to do just for marina. at one point shes expecting them to do a topé sui and they just hit the ropes to do a little flip and bow just to piss her off. this is done in a friendly way, kind of to say 'youre taking this too serious'

marina did mma but is known for judo & bjj specs, speedball did tkd but also has been learning more judo & bjj lately...

heelball is stoic and precise in a way similar to marina, speedball in general highly values honor and what they deem the spirit of the rules, which is related to the death rider ideology, they both want to constantly be improving and getting better, they both are weird outsiders idk words are getting away from me rn

Oh, please please please can you draw Jonathan meeting Otis' rats pleaaaseeee??? I was just thinking like. I headcanon Jonathan relates to animals that people find scary or gross or think they're just the worst. So like, to him, learning about how amazing those kinds of animals are and finding out there are people who really love them is like if someone said to him that actually you're really cool and I like you! I mean, yeaaaaaaah, he experiments on animals, but he also used to frighten birds just for kicks and then later got Nightmare to whom he was very niceys to. So! I think he could get fond of the little ratties toooooo!

I don't know how his meeting with Otis himself would go. Otis is of course so nice and polite, unless you give him a reason to hate you, but Jonathan, depending on the version of course, can be very rude and reserved. At least he wouldn't say anything about how dirty Otis is, because he's against judging people by appearance, so there's that.

That does sound nifty I'm thinking they would be most friendly if they met in Arkham. While sneaking some quality time with Nightmare, Jon hears weird noises coming from a vent shaft. He finds a rat with a message tied to its back, so he sets it on the ground and follows it back to Otis. Nightmare makes his presence known despite his best efforts, but Otis is friendly once he knows Jon isn't there to mess with him. Jon is impressed by the rat mail system, although he is a little appalled that Otis sends them out into the field unprotected. Considering how concerned he is for Nightmare's safety, he is surprised that Otis is so comfortable letting them loose in the asylum (he is smart to keep his judgement to himself though).

It seems you're really passionate about Kadaj as a character and I think it's amazing. I would love to hear your own headcanons about him! If you need a starting point: Do you think it's in Kadaj's nature to be mean to people he first meets? Or would he be more open minded before talking to someone?

I think it depends on what 'Mother' tells him, but other than that, he can have his own feelings involving a person.

I think it's instinctive for him to be mean as a defense mechanism, as its one that Sephiroth wasn't allowed to express: he had to be compliant in many ways.

So in that vein, Kadaj's mental/emotional walls are pretty high at first, but.. Maybe it's something about reading minds or sensing intent, whether a ability tied to Jenova or not.. He can sense when someone is kind, gentle or a vibe he wants to be around..

Doesn't always make it easier to let his walls down, but I'm sure he would be willing to test the waters, and go from there..

If there's anything both Kadaj and Sephiroth need, it's people they can trust outside of Shinra and Jenova.. And people who can trust them in return.
