So What's up With These Guys

In the first Dark Sanctuary, there are just Titan Spawn floating around in the darkness, long before the Knight makes the NEO Dark Fountain. That's pretty weird, right?

My best guess for why this is happening is the proximity of the Dark Fountains.

The Titan emerges, and its Spawn with it, when the Knight makes a Fountain within a Dark World, making the flow of darkness too strong.

By contrast, these early Titan Spawn only appear in the first Dark Sanctuary, whose Fountain, while not immediately adjacent, is pretty dang close to the 3rd Sanctuary Fountain. It's possible that this close proximity skirts the edges of safe darkness density, creating pockets of "true dark" where Titan Spawn are able to emerge. These early Spawn might be a bit different, though. They may not have the proper dark mass of the Titan's Spawn, considering their shrivelled appearence and lack of white outline. And while Ralsei is definitely scared of them, he doesn't seem to prioritise purifying/slaying them, which makes me think they don't pose the threat of becoming fully fledged Titans (Assuming the Titan's Spawn can even do that, but that's kind of the vibe I get from them).

Also, this is probably reaching, but all but one TWO of the "true dark" segments are confined to the first two Sanctuaries, and the one in the 3rd Sanctuary has that weird light-switch thing going on, THERE'S ALSO THE DRAMATIC SEGMENT WHEN THE SOUL STARTS GLOWING, HOW DID I FORGET THAT so the "true dark" segments might also be somewhat unique to tightly packed Fountains. IT MIGHT STILL BE A RESIDUAL THING FROM THE OTHER FOUNTAIN BEING AROUND BUT OTHERWISE MEH THIS PART IS A REACH
