Shoulder GIRD GIRD ( Glenohumeral Internal Rotation Deficit) is a pathological condition resulting in the loss of internal rotation motion of the shoulder. It is common in athletes such as baseball pitcher's and other athletes that perform repetitive overhead activities. It is typically caused by repetitive throwing, resulting in tightness of the posterior capsule and weakness of the rotator cuff muscles. Symptoms may include: vague shoulder pain, shoulder instability, elbow pain, decreased accuracy/velocity/performance, sometimes painless. Can lead to structural damage in the shoulder and elbow if left untreated. PT helps in regaining the loss motion, improving joint mechanics, prevents further or future injury and improves overall performance through various stretching and strengthening exercises. 👉🏾Studies show that 90% of athletes with GIRD will regain the loss of internal rotation range of motion when they consistently follow a prescribed exercise program. #physio #physicaltherapy #injuryatlas #titanpt #betterfasterpt #gird #shoulderpain #elbowpain #baseball #pitching #littleleague #overheadathlete #parabellum #prevention #thinkblue https://www.instagram.com/p/Bxh-2Wng0y8/?igshid=1vvow62qtg1n9
