"Just how I wanted to spend our only day off." TK sighed as they moved up the line a little further, having arrived at the bank at seemingly the busiest time of day. Hands shoved into his pockets, he turned to his partner with a small smirk. "How about we go and get some lunch after this? I could absolutely murder a burger right about now." He leaned over and lightly nudged Carlos' arm. There was a light buzz around them as people went about their days, however the reasonably calm atmosphere was soon shattered.

Behind them, a group of masked men appeared and wasted no time in pistol whipping the security guard, one of them wrapping a chain around the door handles as another fired a shot into the air. Instinctively, TK turned around and his arm moved to keep Carlos behind him, as the crowd began to scream.

"Well, if you need a distraction, being my personal chef and babysitter is absolutely welcome." There was a gentle, almost teasing tone in his voice but he certainly was not making light of the situation. Having Buck staying with him while Carlos was out of town for a case was a lifesaver, and if it helped to keep the other's mind off what had happened, he would do whatever was necessary. "But on that note... How are you holding up?"

"Bare minimum or not, babe. I promised myself I'd show gratitude for you every single day, so that's what I'm gonna do." TK knew what the two of them had been through and he was lucky that they were both still there. As Carlos' hands found his shoulders, he all but melted into the actions, humming contently. "Mm... Very lucky indeed. You know, if you ever decide to take a break from being a brave cop, you could get a job as a personal masseuse."

"What can I say? Like father like son. But hey, just a second, I'm nowhere near as bad as my dad." He wanted to make that absolutely clear, even if he knew that he was probably basically as bad. "Marj, you and I both know, I can't make promises like that. Carlos tells me I'm... like a damn firecracker just waiting for the next thing to blow up in my face. Mean, I know." TK gave a small chuckle, before feigning offence at her next comment. "Um, rude? I like to think I have at least.... ten."

"Hey, you've got nothing to be sorry for, ok? It's just one of the many things I love about you, the way you give your job your all." As he spoke, TK let his hand wander from Carlos' back to gently run through his hair, softly trailing over the curls there. It wasn't a lie, he admired anyone who would give one hundred and ten percent at what they did. "I just don't wanna see you burning the candle at both ends..."
