I’ve never made a theory before and I’m dumb so bare with me.
So people are saying that Seokjin time travels and I was like yeah that makes sense but it would create a paradox if he went back in time to fix things, because if they never happened he wouldn’t know to fix them. Plus, it doesn’t explain the parallel scenes which aren’t the same the first time as they are the second (in terms of set, costume, location, etc) such as Namjoon helping Tae up from the mattress (here), and they would be the same if he went back in time, but not necessarily if he was in a parallel world. Parallel scenes, parallel worlds, ygm?
What if Seokjin came from one world to the other to try and put right in the second world everything that went wrong in the first, to save each boy from their bad fate?
Because I watched an anime called Orange in which the friends write letters to their past selves in order to save their other friend from killing himself, but they send them to a parallel world in order to do so because they know they can’t change their own timeline.
Seokjin gets the others to save each other because as he’s from a parallel world, all he can do is watch. Like he can’t change their timeline, he has to get the people who belong there to change it. He’s obviously alienated and separated:
(Euphoria, watching yoongi in the fire as kookie saves him)
(Run, being singled out and separated from the others by a cross)
Honestly I might be grasping at straws but I kind of feel a tiny bit like I NEED U is the parallel world where everything goes wrong, then Seokjin comes along to save the second world and RUN/Euphoia happens.
TAEHYING STABBING SOMEBODY:
In this scene, Taehyung stabs his abusive dad, which is obviously like ‘oh shit’ bc he just fucking stabbed somebody like Taehyung your ass is going to prison boy
Buuuuuut at the start of Euphoria, we see this:
Bam, it’s Hobi. What if Seokjin told Hobi about what was going to happen, so Hobi darn dashi run run run-ed over and stopped Taehyung from stabbing him, before it got too late? Bam, Taehyung is free from a jail sentence/guilt. (Further evidence to show this is the fact that it shows a clip of hands covered in blood, then one of hands holding flowers, the flowers that Jin always seems to be surrounded by. It’s like Jin saved Taehyung from having ‘blood on his hands’ aka murdering somebody).
Oh and the room isn’t the same - parallel world.
(Also film studies analysis - the second scene is much lighter, showing that the situation is a lot better, implying his dad was not murdered. Plus, no blood on his shirt)
So here, Yoongi is basically going to die. The fire is surrounding him, he has no intention on leaving, nobody is there to help.
Kookie comes along and saves him. Seokjin could have told Kookie to save him, so Kookie legs it over there and manages to get him out. Also, the fire isn’t as bad in Euphoria as it was before in I NEED U, meaning that Kookie saving him in Euphoria happens before the scenes we see in I NEED U (also shown by the fact that he still has his flannel on in the second picture but doesn’t in the first, showing it happens earlier and that they are two separate timelines).
JIMIN IS DEPRESSED POSSIBLY:
Jimin (I NEED U) sad and in a bathtub, possible depression? I mean he’s burning photos, to me he’s upset and pushing his friends away?
Jimin is happy in a bathtub, which Jin pushes him into when he bursts into the room. He’s shocked to see them in there when he gets in (you can see on his face) and they had to have known that Jimin would go there and be all upset, bc Seokjin told them, so they all ran into the bathroom to party for when Jimin got there to cheer him up.
(Again, like in Tae’s scenes, the second scene is a lot lighter, showing things are better).
In Euphoria, we see jm in a hospital by himself running around:
And then the next clip is him on a bike and jk chasing him:
What if bc Seokjin didn’t let him suffer alone in the bath, it means that in the second parallel world he didn’t push all his friends away (little party in the bathroom) and isn’t suffering as much (I mean he still goes to hospital but he has everyone with him).
These differing scenes above further suggest this because in the first world Jimin is running around a hospital by himself and in the second he’s running around outside with Kookie, they’re directly after one another and contrast each other.
When he runs towards the exit doors of the hospital when he’s by himself, he stops and doesn’t escape. When all his friends are there, he keeps going and escapes the hospital - could show escaping the depression or something?
Also Jin seems to have these weird like premonitions????:
This one is from Run. It’s like he knows something bad is going to happen so he’s like ‘shit need to fix that quick’. Also, the fact that he looks directly at the camera and breaks the 4th wall might represent him breaking the walls of dimensions to be in a parallel world. It shows that he knows more than everyone around him, he is hyperaware of the events in the timeline.
(There is another ‘breaking the 4th wall’ moment in Euphoria when all members turn to look at the camera, showing that in this second world they know about the parallels bc of Seokjin, the only one who could see them before).
The clip right after this ‘premonition’ is this:
So it’s like he knows Tae is drowning. At the end of Run, we see that Tae doesn’t drown:
When Tae comes up from the water he does it by himself, and everybody knows that you are the only person who can save yourself. So the drowning is a metaphor for something else, a dark secret or emotions he can’t control.
I think it’s a metaphor for Taehyung facing the abuse.
It makes sense when you think about it - he kills his abusive dad, he comes up from the water. But the thing is, Seokjin saves him from murdering his dad... which also means that Taehyung cannot stop drowning. The whole dad problem hasn’t gone away, there was no indication that Hobi called the police or anything, just that he somehow got Tae’s dad out of the apartment.
These clips of Tae drowning appear a lot in Euphoria because in the second universe, his dad is still alive.
That explains why at the end of Euphoria when Jin is filming them and they’re all smiling and waving, Taehyung is the only one who isn’t smiling and doesn’t wave at Jin:
He’s still drowning, and in his head it’s Seokjin’s fault, because Seokjin told Hoseok to stop him from murdering his dad. This could then link to BST because Tae is being a devil and playing with Seokjin and there are the same flowers in a vase with Jin at the end but this post is long enough thank you.
Finally, at the end of Euphoria it shows somebody asking somebody else (who I guess to be Seokjin bc ‘hyung’) what happens next, then shows the clip of Kookie about to get hit by a car.
In my opinion, Seokjin still needs to work out how to save Kookie. He’s helped them all this far, but doesn’t know how to stop Kookie from being hit. This is because in Run, a similar shot happens but it’s slower and has the members in the background. Seokjin managed to fix most of the issues in Run/Euphoria, but there isn’t anything to show he fixed this car problem:
The car isn’t going fast enough to hit him so maybe it’s foreshadowing that the car crash is still to come. The fact that the members are all walking away from him could show that they don’t know it’s going to happen, which is why I think it’s the ‘what happens next’ event that Seokjin is asked about at the end of Euphoria. Plus, there are only 5 members in the background.
Jin isn’t one of them - because he knows about the crash already.
BUT YEAH BASICALLY THAT’S ALL I HAVE ATM FEEL FREE TO COME CHAT TO ME ABOUT IT OR TO REBLOG AND ADD YOUR OWN IDEAS I’VE NEVER MADE A THEORY BEFORE SO DON’T JUDGE ME TOO HARD LOVE YOU BYE
