in the pilot the old coach asks rebecca whether she got some ‘poofter’ to redecorate, insinuating that this coach was not creating a safe environment for his players, especially gay ones :(
during ted’s first press conference, there’s a two second shot of isaac and colin in the training room next to each other. this is the first time we are introduced to both characters and they are in the same shot!!!
twenty minutes into the pilot: the first shot of colin bullying nate. i won’t make any excuses for his behavior. this is colin at his lowest.

“hey look at isaac. he looks like a rodin sculpture in cleats” as isaac tackles on of his teammates
around the five minute mark, we’ve got colin and isaac laughing at sam like dumb minions for jamie
another shot of colin and isaac walking behind jamie, mimicking him in ignoring higgins completely
after the seven minute mark we see colin in the locker room, getting a kink pulled out in his leg by a sports masseuse. he stays like that, lying on his stomach during on his whole scene and he is the only one who doesn’t laugh when ted introduces the ‘suggestion box’. he clearly has something on his mind.
when nate goes around with the box for sam’s birthday, colin does in fact put money in. isaac doesn’t :(
but then, fifteen seconds later colin laughs at jamie’s awful gesture towards ted.
colin actually congratulates sam when they surprise him and even stands up to clap. isaac doesn’t.
after the game, colin and isaac also get up to have cake, dance and celebrate. they’re clearly both softies when jamie isn’t around to point it out.

this episode opens with the lads watching their failure on the tv. note that there's an empty seat between colin and isaac and they both sit with their arms crossed. isaac proceeds to call their performance shit and while colin seems to cheer up during the rom-communism speech, isaac still looks angry and sad.
when coach beard asks what's going on with isaac, nate says 'piles' — which is british term for hemorrhoids. coach beard then proceeds to say that he would have accepted 'aubergines and snogging, but not piles'. if that's not some crazy, kind of homophic joke from nate — because there's a misconception about hemorrhoids and gay sex — and coach beard answering with another type of homosexual subtext, then i don't know what that whole conversation was about.
when isaac collects his free nespresso machine, we see him in the bi hoodie for the first time.
isaac's whole arc about struggling to lead. we see isaac finding the love for the game again. while it has nothing to do with colin or isaac's sexuality, it does raise a question of what has happened since isaac's suddenly feeling less secure.
also, isaac is wearing yellow and green again when he plays against the kids. (oddly enough, dr. sharon fieldstone also wears yellow and green two times in this episode.)
it may be a complete coincidence, but this is also the episode we see a gay couple for the first time in the show, in the stands, supporting richmond.
when they warm up before the game, colin looks so happy that isaac is happy.
S2E6
