The ability, or power, that an individual possessed had always been what made them unique. This ability meant they were different. It shaped their lives, sometimes for the worse or even for the better and ultimately it was what would lead them to Lake Grimstone. This ability, often unique to only them, made them who they are and what they are. It inspired their hopes and dreams and allowed them to think the impossible. You are the individual with this unique gift. You possess the ability that you have learned to control and embrace.  Not once did you imagine that you would wake up one day and your special ability would disappear. Not once did you even think that you'd yearn to feel your previous power again. Not once did you fear you never would. Now, this feeling encompasses you -- not only because your power seems to have been lost in the abyss, but because in its place is something that you can't control. A power that you fear you never will learn to control. You're confronted with feelings similar to your first realisation of your greatness, your uniqueness -- but there is no awe; only worry.  We'd like to say that these feelings, these experiences are only a dream. That's what we'd like to say, but we would be lying if that were the case. It is, in fact, the very opposite. It seems that the reality we must now face is one where your powers are not your own, but powers that belonged to a fellow resident just the night before.

START DATE: 5th March. LOCATION: The whole island.

Information:

This event is essentially a power switching event. While it could be argued that this event is technically an AU, it is not outside their universe, and after the event all characters will remember that it did in fact happen. 

It was gone midnight when the change happened, 3 in the morning. Your character may have been sleeping or they may have been up and witnessed their reality change in that one moment. 

Whatever the scenario, your character is without the power they are so used to and instead, they find themselves with the power of another individual in Lake Grimstone.

What they do with this new found gift is up to you as the writers: do they exploit it, suppress it, seek help?

The duration of this switch is as of yet undetermined. The character could be without their power for a few days, a week, or much longer? Who could tell?

What is certain is that there is no evidence that your character had their other power to begin with, other than the memories that all the characters share about such.

How you choose for your character to find out about the change is up to you, but they will know that there has been a power switch.

Because this is a new power, it's very unlikely that control will come easy, no one will be an expert -- the characters will be lucky if they know someone who has an insight into how to really control and use the power.

NOTE: Any paras started before the event can be continued while the event is occurring if you so please, though it is recommended that focus stays on the situation at hand for the most part.

PSA ABOUT LAKE GRIMSTONE

Hi there, some of you might remember me, most of you probably will not, seeing as Lake Grimstone goes through its fair share of writers. My name is Tyler, and I used to write an original character named Stone Jackson in this RPG.  I was gone for a long time, due to health reasons, and when I finally came back and wanted to start writing here again, I was told to reapply. Pretty standard procedure, no biggie. I wanted to apply with a different OC of mine, however, and I was told by an admin that that would be completely fine. I sent information on my newer character, submitted an application, and I waited.  When acceptance came around, I received a message saying that my app would not be accepted due to the fact that I hadn't included a bio for my muse. One would think stuff like that might be mentioned in the application, but seeing as the application is meant for only LG characters, I'd say that it's a little biased, but oh well. I was asked to submit her bio, which I did, and once again, I waited.  The last message I received from an LG admin was on November 17th. I have sent my OC's bio in twice, once on the day I was asked to send it (the 17th), and once again yesterday, just in case they didn't get my ask, seeing as I never heard back. Since sending that ask again, my application has been dropped from the app count and I still have not heard from an admin. Not to mention, an admin's character application got accepted before ours, without a public acceptance. I'm taking this as an blatant act of disrespect and I'm thoroughly appalled that a group meant for writers would act this way.   That is not all, my friends. Since joining this group over a year ago, I have noticed that the admins, for the most part, only write with each other. This creates a rift in a group.­­­­ If admins are only interacting with one another, that is basically creating, for lack of better terms, a clique, and I believe that an RPG should be all-inclusive. I have tried, on two separate occasions, to start a thread with a character that an admin writes, and I never heard back nor received a starter. I have, on good word, heard of more recent attempts for an admin character to be the knight in shining armor when three other characters were planning on saving another. All of this is absolutely ridiculous and this is me calling it out, to maybe spare some other writers the misfortune of not being respected in a community meant for writers. Not to mention that the admins can't even come up with original plots/characters, seeing as they borrowed at least two characters from a TV show and they ship them together, just like on the show.  The LG Gossip blog is a joke. Not only do they blatantly prefer their own characters for positions of power when it isn't warranted, they say things that make you question where on Earth their minds are at. When asked who would be fit for "leadership", they responded with Nate Bevan of all people, because the ability to make people 'fall into line' is a respected leadership trait. I'm pretty sure the last psycho dictator that had that ability was Adolf Hitler. They also mentioned Isabella, who they quoted as weak, because that logically makes sense. Matt is in a leadership position for his own personal agenda. Look around, admins. There's plenty of people who fit the bill of a good leader, but you're too busy having your heads shoved up your own characters' asses to see it. There are quality writers here, and you're ignoring them and disrespecting them for no good reason. This entire RPG is a joke, and to think that I used to have respect for it only sickens me now.

We are both very impressed and happy with the amount of responses we've had to last weeks task. And to show how ecstatic we are, we will be having an event on this coming Wednesday. All information about the event will be posted tomorrow, so be sure to take a peek.

To celebrate the Government’s wonderful 50 years of relocating and helping those who possess extra special abilities, and most importantly providing them a safe place where they can be themselves, Lake Grimstone will be celebrating in style! This won’t just be the average party— fifty years of only good deserves to be special for the current residents. And to accomplish a celebration like Lake Grimstone has never seen before, the theme will be Monte Carlo night.

Everyone is invited and required to attend. Dress to impress for this black tie event, and prepare for a night you will never forget. Music, casino games and fireworks to make the night finish with a bang, will be just a few things to guarantee the perfect, entertaining night! Everyone will be provided with a basic amount of chips upon entering, and be prepared to gamble them away.

For this event we will be doing a plot shuffle, this means that we will be giving each character the basic direction of a plot, pairing them up with another character, or multiple characters. It is compulsory that you recognise these plots whether you are able to participate or not-- in the case that you do not participate, please talk the plot over with your partner so that you know how exactly it went down even if you didn't write it out. If you have a problem with the particular plot we've selected for your character, please message us and give us your reasons, we'd be happy to alter it. If you do play these plots out, then you can do so with paras or chatzys. Or even through a simple gif chat. We'd like to state that plot sizes will vary but that doesn't mean that one is more important than the other, and for the next plot shuffle we'll be sure to even it out! Partners have been chosen on a mostly random basis-- if your partner is missing for the shuffle, message us and let us know, we'd be happy to offer alternatives with our characters. Or, simply message them about it afterwards.

NOTES: Please remember that to the residents this event will have only lasted a day/night. We are spanning it across four days to ensure that everyone gets a chance to participate. Also, you are definitely able to have more plot outside of the plot shuffle also. Plots and Partners will be located under the cut, if anyone has any inquiries, don't be afraid to message the main.

After being told that there were in fact certain age restrictions to the event, Seth Hall and Elodie Bevan decide that sneaking in seems like a much better option than getting a free pass anyway. But when Noah Lust sees what they're doing, the two have to resort to a carefree and innocent attitude; just in case.

After spending just a few hours watching the residents chat and gamble their chips away, Cecelia Grayson and Andrea Bishop decide to have a little fun with their sins. The two demons release the sins on unsuspecting victims.

Receiving the sin of envy, Bianca Ortiz turns the good luck streak Lexi Rhodes is naturally having sour when she can't help but voice her opinion on just how lucky the girl is at the moment, which eventually turns into a confession of envy toward her relationship. 

During a streak of winnings, Janey Fords gets rather attracted to Ian Mako and the girl just can't seem to control the urges that Cecelia implanted. 

Of course, the demon who finds herself most in her element is Melinda Harington who decides that now is the perfect time to strike. Though rather than have fun with multiple people, Melinda picks just one not so lucky resident, Amelia West.

While Wren Rogers is focussed on the roulette table, Evelina Dai has decided that convincing him to go back to her cabin, with a little help from the sin of lust. But as soon as Jeremy Stark runs into the two of them outside, he decides to have his own fun-- sloth definitely proves to be a great way to stop such the impulses of lust.

If there had been no sexual frustration between Joseph Fender and Faye Beckett before now, then that certainly can't be the case anymore. With lust travelling fast the two just can't keep their hands off each other. God only knows where they disappeared to so quickly.

While Callie Brace and Sia Fawun have a pleasant conversation about Sia's growing child, the mood turns foul, which results in an envy stricken Callie expressing her hatred for the fact her baby got taken away from her. 

Meanwhile inside the ballroom Romilly DeLarosa’s luck seems to have changed, she is winning at every table she plays but only if Nate Bevan is playing the same one. Who knows how his luck rubbed off on the girl, but she's definitely going to make use of it while she can.

Wanting to have a good time and forget about recent happenings Miles Hall ventures into the ballroom to try his hand at gambling. But every hand he has just loses him more and more money. He moves into a private closet to let his frustration out, but what Katherine Jackson comes to check on him, the two end up locked in there together. 

Ben Sutton, after just winning a game of poker decides to get some fresh air. The happy winning streak gets cut short when he sees Seth Hall being threatened by none other than Sebastian Winters, the demon he had confronted before. Ben shows just what he's capable and goes to great lengths to hurt the monster.

Having decided that watching the havoc going on around her Crystal Cohen takes to her journal, but of course when she's approached by a drunk and lust-filled Josh Bevan things really go south. Thankfully with Aaron Brody stepping in, nothing goes too far-- despite the males great persistence. 

While one may think that was a job for Daniel Black, he was preoccupied by Gabriel Rowland requesting his help upon discovering the mostly unresponsive Wren and Evie.

Still full of lust and envy, the ballroom becomes even more disruptive when Jazmine Martinez lashes out, trying to steal India Barolow's winnings. Of course, the sin consuming Jazmine seems very strong.

After having witnessed Jeremy Stark's unneeded reaction to Wren and Evie, Matthew Snyder takes it upon himself to follow the demon into the bar, where he confronts him. Only to be met with a similar fate. Though Stark uses his sin this time to calm the male down while telling him the benefits of helping his kind.

Penelope Volsky overhears the demons comments, considering them while at the bar, she seeks the opinion of Bree Lawson. The two ponder the idea of confronting the male who is after rebellion, or so it seems.
