I just saw some of that "character on a leash" meme templates and these two memes immediately came to my mind:

Yeah, these are SO accurate. Grimsby, Carlotta, and the entire castle staff must have had a very difficult time during Ariel's first months as a human, especially since I believe Eric indulged her regardless, just to see her happy. Eric may seem calmer than Ariel, but (as seen in the final battle) he actually has a crazy side too. I think the difference between them is that Ariel thinks less before acting, while Eric thinks a little more before doing something (especially during the film, you can see in many scenes that he is actually undecided)... but then he is also capable of committing reckless acts.
How I Filled in The Little Mermaid’s BIGGEST Plot Hole:
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “But if Ariel just wrote everything down, she would’ve solved everything!”
But NOOOOOO. There’s a good reason why Ariel didn’t write Eric the truth:
1. She IS shown to be writing, as evidenced by the prequel tv series (Which does a lot of good worldbuilding- and it’s on Disney+ if you wanna binge it).
2. She’s more of a doer than of a passive person. Throughout the movie, she SHOWS Eric the sweet and adventurous girl she truly is, and Eric falls for her that way. Actions speak louder than words.
3. . This is the most important point. If Ariel really DID tell Eric about her situation via writing, she could’ve exposed all of Atlantica to the surface world and thrown them under the submarine bus. She had to keep her origins a secret, or Atlantica would have been in SERIOUS TROUBLE- not just from Ursula, but from humans looking to seek it out. And plus, after the events of the movie, the human world KNOWS of the merpeople and they’re both on good terms!! And also, although Ariel’s characterized as naive and trusting, she didn’t want to expose Atlantica for the sake of her friends, sisters, and her subjects- even though she was already defying her father. She only considered the danger posed by humans towards Atlantica because she remembered some of her father’s words.
Overall thoughts on how I filled up this plot hole? And how it makes sense.

I bet Eric's wedding to "Vanessa" was wild af to the kingdom, especially to everyone who attended the wedding like imagine your prince finds the girl he wants to marry and decides he wants to marry her TODAY so y'all gotta scramble to get to plan and set up a wedding in several hours then a bunch of animals randomly show up and cause absolute chaos and pretty much destroy the wedding then the mute girl he was originally interested in shows up and can speak and turns into a mermaid while his fiance turns into octopus and drags his first girl into the water then Eric gets off the the ship to go rescue his mermaid crush from his ex-fiance

Curse of the Sea Witches
I thought to take advantage of scamazon prime day so I bought a couple of TLM books. This is a kiddie graphic novel that takes place after the events of the original movie. It's not as long as I expected and the ending was pretty anticlimatic. Otherwise it's a so read. Plus I love the idea of Ariel exploring other regions and cultures!
The plot is about Ariel and Eric meeting Eric's cousin Magnus as he builds a new port. But it comes into direct conflict with a bitter mer-Queen Arnaaluk. Interestingly aside from a few unnamed background characters Eric and Ariel are the ONLY white people in the story XD
Yes Magnus has Inuit heritage/looks, take that grifters! 😁😁
I wanna say the story sounds like it could be a better sequel than the actual sequel. At least the plot is original and not a complete rehash.
Even the merfolk are designed with Inuit cultures in mind. I do find the skin color odd sine the og merfolk had regular skin and hair colors, though this might be done to make them more unique.
The conflict is fairly interesting and it's clear there isn't any real villain in it (uh oh, the "we want real villains again" crowd won't like the sound of that). But it shows how not everything is purely black and white. Both Magnus and Arnaaluk make good points and *spoilers* do compromise. Anticlimactic as it is.
The biggest flaw is there's no actual sea witches :(
I assumed there'd be something like a sea witch taking advantage of both sides to try to take over the Artic. But it turns out to be just a term used by the humans to describe the merfolk.
Anyways, it's a pretty good addition to the Disney Mermaid lore. I hope there's more stories detailing Ariel's exploring more human cultures in the future!
I think I might use this as a fanfic now.
