TMA 29 be like "look at this cool trick I can do with my knife"

I enjoyed this episode very much! I usually like stories about the concept or depictions of death. The Death of the Rats is still up there as my favourite in the list, but this one is also interesting.

This is also another episode where the narration itself helped me to sleep. Mr. Retired-Death sounds like a very calm guy according to Jon's intonation.

Talking about Jon, I think fear is little by little getting to him, or at least the idea that he might die soon. It was not many eps ago that he said something implying he thought he was gonna die of old age, and now we have him saying "perhaps it's fitting" after breaking death's token.

And the thing is he's choosing this. I think he's more scared of not satiating his curiosity than of death.

Anyways, what game would you play againts Death? I'm choosing Cubirds

TMA - Jon and Georgie

There I was last night, listening to The Magnus Archives for the second time through, and I got to the episode that introduced Melanie King.

After she told her story, about investigating the abandoned military hospital and seeing Sarah Baldwin stapling the skin of her arm back on, Jon mentioned that they'd gotten in touch with Georgina Barker to confirm the details of what Melanie had told them.

Jon, of course, is trying to be as objective and professional as possible, and doesn't mention that Georgie is his ex-girlfriend from college, but he was probably thinking about that from the minute Melanie mentioned her name.

For my money, it was probably either Tim or Sasha who contacted Georgie initially to get her take on Sarah Baldwin, and Jon probably did the research to find out where he'd heard that name before.

When he put it together, he probably freaked out on Georgie's behalf, and that was when he first got back in touch with her. It wasn't to rekindle the romance, but it was enough to re-establish their friendship.

And when Jon went on the run for murder two years later, it only made sense that he went to her for help.

I dont think Nathaniel Thorp from mag 29: Cheating Death gets enough appreciation in this fandom. Bitch had the audacity to not only challenge Death to a wager, but CHEAT.

And even after all that time as death, once he got back to some semblance of humanity he just strolled into the magnus institute all like "Hey guys, funny story" and then tried to cut off a finger or something in front of them. King.

Maybe I'm just a sucker for the old "personification of death" trope but-

I just imagine Mr Thorp as discworld death being all existential and shit.

yknow,,,theres one statement(that i can remember) that doesnt tie in with anything,,,and that’s number 29-the one about death. just putting that out there, along with the fact that jonny sims NEVER writes anything and doesnt tie it in later.
