Statement of Nicole Baxter. Josh Baxter. George Baxter. Alenka Kozel. John Amherst.
“Strange thing, isn’t it, what you’re afraid of.”
Corpse - disturbing or disgusting? I do fear rot.
[soundscape begins when she mentions Ivy Meadows Care Home, then goes away]
Tingling, squirming fear. “I’m rambling, ignore the first page.”
My favorite care home. Lovely place. Old country home, modified to accommodate the care home.
Call that a resident had passed away.
Place was different. Faint odor, rancid. Marks on the wall. Greasy residue on the bell.
New director, John Amherst. Fly walks across his eye. “Who called you?”
Bertrand Miller was definitely dead. The smell. The rash. The flies.
Pain, even through the glove. Washed, and washed.
Uncle George took care of it. Josh got over it. I couldn’t let it go.
Nurse called... “come quickly, we’ve taken ill, we’ve passed away.”
Faded white transit van in the car park.
Tap, tap, tap, at a window.
Other side of the glass, Alenka Kozel, covered with that leaking yellow rash. Opened her mouth, flies boiled out.
Old man pinning me to the ground. Not blemished. Young woman, tall and lean, deep scar over her right eye.
He: Knowledge being good defense here... She: Leaving quickly better.
Didn’t turn around even when I saw the smoke.
Care home was decommissioned a month before the first call.
Records are patchy. Only 7 transferred, of 29 residents. Most of the staff are missing, too.
John Amherst doesn’t seem to exist.
Nicole Baxter lost her left hand to a workplace accident.
The way she talked about fear - reminds me of Jane Prentiss.
Old man sounds like Trevor if he weren’t dead.
Tim - Delivery? Elias wants to know.
Lighter. Spiderweb design on the front.
And a table, went direct to artefact storage. Hypnotic design. Hole? Don’t know.
“Have to talk to Martin...”
