Martin stands alone on an empty beach.

When he first got here, he had walked, on and on along the gentle surf, the rocks and pebbles of the shore sliding and crunching under his feet. He walked, in the hopes that at some point he would arrive somewhere else but he never did. He walked and walked, but nothing about the beach ever changed, and eventually he slowed, then stopped.

Martin stands on an empty beach, staring out at an empty sea and an empty sky.

The waves roll in, then out.

He is alone.
