aight since you asked me how I rank the tmia songs, now I'm asking you how you'd rank them. ik it's your favorite album so I'm curious about how you'd rank the songs lol
jasmine. i love you for sending me this ask.
tell me i'm alive. i relate to it so much. i'm a pretty chaotic, messy person and have done some really impulsive bullshit in the name of Living. so i relate to it. i also adore the screaming outro, it has such a great energy and i am obsessed with it. it's always stuck in my head. also reminds me of one of my blorbos an indescribable amount. but yeah tell me i'm alive is one of my top 3 songs of all time.
the way you miss me. this one's in my top 5 songs of all time. at first, it wasn't a favourite, actually! but last year i ended up in a toxic relationship and lived out the cycle in this song. i became very attached to the song because i felt seen by it and it highkey became a comfort "object." so. concept is 10/10, lots of raw feeling in this one, and the sparkly-synth sound is fun.
the sound of letting go. just, like, what a positive song. not just lyrically, but also sound-wise. it's so upbeat and hopeful and i really love it idk
english blood // american heartache. i adore the tune of this one, and i think it is beautiful sounding. i love the nostalgic sound of the instrumentals and the reflective lyrics. i also am an american whose dream is to immigrate to the uk, so it gives me an in to my daydreams even if alex is like. the opposite of me. lol.
lost along the way. what a wonderful song about endings. and the space imagery is absolutely evcative. i love the tmia guy character's reflections on life as he moves forth into the next life. i love how it ties the entire record together and closes the narrative in a sad but ultimately honest and hopeful way. also this song has some of my favourite lyrics in the world in both the chorus and bridge. so.
the other side. jack's song! i love it dearly. the chorus is so good and it's got a really wonderful rhythm to it. like, the guitar is phenomenal and also the bass line is lit. I also like the bridge part when alex is singing alone and then the whole band goes back in, he has a great voice
kill ur vibe. YOU CAN FIT SO MANY GOOD VIBES INTO THIS BAD BOY. it just makes me happy. such a sweet love song.
sleepwalking. i love the lyrics so much. also, alex's vocals are astonishing when he's like 'and the dream's a lie i teLL myself" in the 2nd verse. but yes sleepwalking has my whole heart, it's phenomenal. i also love the guitar like jack my guy you killed it
i want to note that all of the above songs are on my atl top 40 playlist. tmia is nearly a third of that playlist.
the next songs weren't in the top 40, but i think i would give all of them 10/10 ratings. the entire album is a masterpiece and you cannot convince me otherwise.
modern love. catchy. elton john vibes. i love mr modern love with the costume and stuff and he was such a fun character. the bridge always gets me to crack a little smile. really adore the piano.
new religion. love the chant vibes. absolutely adore the way it sounds like praying. it is so filthy. it is SO catchy. new religion gets stuck in my head so much. the only thing that makes this song down further on the list is the collab. i want it to be like the live version with just alex as the vocalist lmao
i'd be fine (if i never saw you again). i love this song SO much, especially the "and i will not shed a tear / for the death of us my dear" in the bridge. i feel so horrible ranking it so low, because if you asked, i'd call it an amazing song. man, this album is just too fucking good!
are you there? i love are you there but do not have much to say about it, which is why it's here!
calm down. the album version of this song isn't my favourite version, though i do really like it. the FREAKING ME OUT! is so satisfying. regardless of the version. but i would rank the a little bit calmer now variant much higher than this.
