‘eli what’s todd?’ underappreciated. archetype wise he’s the dilettante. this is defined as being a jack of all trades, master of none, and while i will argue that todd is pretty close to mastering two of his ‘trades’ (art and service, to be specific) he does fall short when it comes to piety and love, which are, arguably, more important, considering they’re the more relationship/humanity driven ‘trades’ he’s partaking in. the dilettante can also serve as a kind of moral pet, which is absolutely what todd is to both ashton and colin -- he reminds colin not to get too bogged down by his work (ESPECIALLY in the opening number which is one of the most underrated moments in the show i love having access to the wwg script everybody), and keeping ashton’s faith in the human race tethered to himself. i think todd even shows traits of the shadow version of this archetype, which is described as believing to posses more knowledge on a subject than one actually does. before he goes through canon, he shows shades of this to william. not to fucigkfush mention that the dilettante is just a fancy way of saying everyman just admit it

this part fucking kills me no listen. todd is directly addressing ashton here like the line "i know if i stay i will burst at the seams / this town is too small to hold all of my dreams" is SAID TO ashton and it's killing me!!!!!

please be todd’s friend here are some facts:

- he’s sixteen and he’s already a locally famous rockstar (in canon) - his best friend and father figure died a month ago (of the plague in canon) - his girlfriend is using him as a rebound but he’s been in love with her since he was three  - (she also dies of the plague. good riddance) - he loves music so much and it’s all that gets him through his grief  - his dad blames him for his mum’s death (in childbirth) and he’s altogether not a good dad - he interns for a (plague) doctor. at 16. oh yes - he’s so good please please please i miss him sm
