Bethesda’s E3 conference 2018
Bethesda’s conference is about to end. Todd Howard begins walking off the stage. Having not revealed or shown anything spectacular, select few people from the crowd begin shouting. Todd stops, turns around and walks towards the center of the stage again. The few people become silent. Todd begins smiling as he is about to speak.
“Actually, there is one last thing we want to show you.”
Lights shut off one by one and the crowd starts cheering. There is speculation, discussion and excitement brewing among everyone.
Finally, something happens.
The crowd hears the sound of sand blowing in the wind as if someone was in the desert. Two men in the crowd begin screaming. The song “Begin Again” from Fallout: New Vegas then starts playing with a radio effect over it, and the entire crowd goes ballistic. The screen fades to a shot moving slowly to the right, showing the inside of a ruined house and eventually an empty bottle with a perculiar bottle cap lying next to it. The video fades into a zoomed-in shot where you can read the label of the bottle, which says: “Sunset Sarsaparilla”. Everyone in the crowd starts losing their minds. The video then fades into a shot of a particularly large sniper rifle and then eventually a helmet which seems to belong to an NCR Veteran Ranger also from Fallout: New Vegas. A very loud applause is heard and many are screaming. The video fades to black and the song slowly fades out as you hear an old man say: “Finding it isn’t the hard part. It’s letting go.”
There is a short moment of silence, and a camera man captures a young woman in the crowd crying. An estatic young man sitting next to her begins embracing her as she tries to hold back her tears.
“Atom Bomb Baby” then starts playing and the video shows some gameplay of Fallout 4 where Nate is building a settlement. He places some objects found in Fallout: New Vegas. Then a settler takes a sip of Sunset Sarsaparilla and shoots a (legendary) molerat with the varmint rifle, a weapon found in New Vegas. Some footage of varmint rifle customization is shown, and the final shot of the video is Nate in power-armor with a varmint rifle in his one hand standing on top of a (legendary) deathclaw. It cuts to black and some text reads: “Fallout 4: New Vegas Settlement DLC!”. Below it is a subtitle that reads: “Exclusive varmint rifle weapon included with pre-order!”.
The video and song end, and the crowd is dead silent.
A spotlight shines on Todd Howard as he says: “You people wanted it and we at Bethesda finally deliver! Fallout: New Vegas settlement items for Fallout 4 and the ICONIC varmint rifle also from New Vegas in the pre-order!”. Three people in the crowd begin clapping.
Every time they release another Skyrim, Todd gets stronger.
