In memory of singer and songwriter Bobby Hart, wearing the blue shirt in the gifs above, who passed away at the age of 86 on September 10th, 2025 after a long illness. Bobby and his songwriting partner Tommy Boyce (who passed away in 1994) first met in 1959 and wrote hit songs for Chubby Checker, Paul Revere & the Raiders, and The Monkees, among other pop stars of the era, as well as the theme song for the daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives, jingles for Coca-Cola, and producing music for the Dean Martin Matt Helm series of movies before launching a career as performers themselves in the late-1960s, billing their act as "Boyce and Hart". Appearing on the Screen Gems television series Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, and The Flying Nun during the late-1960s and early-1970s, their song I'm Gonna Blow You A Kiss in the Wind as performed by Elizabeth Montgomery in the guise of her kookie cousin Serena on the Bewitched episode entitled Serena Stops the Show in 1970 became iconic, later (half-jokingly) cited by director Quentin Tarantino as "the greatest moment in television history" during his 1995 appearance on Saturday Night Live before Tarantino performed a rendition of the song himself. Both Elizabeth Montgomery as Serena and Boyce and Hart's versions of the song from Bewitched can be seen in the video following the gifs below.

Monkees Songwriter Bobby Hart Dies at 86

- “He was the stillness that is the eye of the hurricane,” Micky Dolenz says

Songwriter Bobby Hart, who with his partner Tommy Boyce penned some of the Monkees’ biggest hits, has died.

Hart, who was 86, died Sept. 10 after “complications from a long illness,” his widow, MaryAnn Hart, said a statement.

“May Bobby Hart rest in peace and love,” Todd Rundgren’s Spirit of Harmony Foundation said.

With Boyce, Hart wrote “(Theme From) The Monkees,” Last Train to Clarksville,” “I Wanna Be Free,” “(I’m Not Your) Steppin’ Stone” and “Words,” songs that “not only made a vital contribution to the popular success of the Monkees, but even more importantly to the essence, the very spirit of the entire venture,” Micky Dolenz said in a statement.

“His talent, charisma, good humor and calmness in the face of what at times was nothing less than a maniacal roller coaster ride often brought a sense of peace that heartened everyone around him,” Dolenz said of Hart. “He was the stillness that is the eye of the hurricane.”

Outside of the Monkees, Hart’s co-writing credits included “Hurt So Bad” (Little Anthony and the Imperials/Linda Ronstadt) and his own solo hit “I Wonder What She’s Doing Tonight.” Boyce & Hart also recorded as a duo and with Dolenz and Davy Jones.

“Bobby’s songwriting work accurately articulated youthful energy, and emotions to the world.” MaryAnn Hart said in a statement.

I got the Headquarters in translucent blue vinyl, and the Dolenz, Jones, Boyce & Hart vinyl is old :3 and the record store owner said it’s rare !! So happy rn but now i’m broke
