suddenly thinking about chim and tommy, circa 2012, in a new years eve party at their usual bar. both are so drunk and moping about not having anyone to kiss.

they step outside the bar to have a cig and when the countdown starts tommy keeps looking at chim and goes "fuck it" and they kiss. it doesn't damage their friendship, instead, it becomes a fond memory for both of them (it helps they didn't remember anything from that night until like a week later).

Tommy & Chimney: A love story

Headcanon: Tommy used to have a crush on Chimney and they might even have kissed once.

1. They drop everything to help eachother, even if it means risking their own lives

Chimney saved Tommy's life and didn't care that he was risking his own in the process and ever since then, whenever Chimney has asked him for help, Tommy has said yes. He will help whenever Chimney asks, even if it means risking his own life.

2. Their body language

The bar scene:

There was plenty of space on that bench, and yet Chimney sat closer to Tommy, when Bobby arrived Chimney got even closer to Tommy saying they needed to "make space for Cap", but Bobby was sitting on a separate chair so him moving wouldn't have changed anything, but he still got closer to Tommy.

The apology scene:

Tommy confessed to Chimney that his favorite movie was Love Actually. A super macho man, like Tommy could have lied and made up a fake favorite movie but he confided in him.

Not only that, but he hugged Chimney after that, and how did he hug him??? By putting his hand in a way his thumb would brush Chimney's nape.

And then they kept shaking hands after the hug,

and Tommy touched Chimney's shoulder which according to Buddie shippers is a romantic gesture.

After the hug, Tommy kept looking at Chimney

3. They get eachother, cheer eachother up and make eachother laugh

Was the joke even that funny Chimney? Was it?? I don't think so.

The medal ceremony:

During the Medal Ceremony we see Tommy being closed off when Buck starts talking about his old Captain, he's very tense, and who's the person who manages to bring a smile to his face? Chimney, when he said the line about Gerrard only being dead in their hearts.

Was it a one-sided crush from Tommy's side? Maybe. Maybe not.

Exhibit A: Chimney's reaction to meeting the Bachelor in the crossover episode.

One Bi character on the show doesn't mean there can't be another one, and Chimney being married to Maddie doesn't mean that he's not Bi.

TL:DR: Chimney might have been Tommy's first crush and/or his gay awakening. And Chimney might not have been indifferent to Tommy either.

“No, he’s proud of me,” Tommy says, shoving clothes into his suitcase. “I just feel… like an imposter.”

“Uh, are you secretly not a chiseled veteran firefighter?” Howie says, sitting on Tommy's dresser and kicking it in a way that should be annoying. “Imposter how?”

Tommy's hesitations keep getting longer. “Different politics,” he says finally.

“Ah,” says Howie, stilling. “First good ol’ boys club was at home?”

Tommy nods. “I don’t want to make waves.”

After a moment, Howie says, “Look, if my father were proud of me…. I won't tell you to give that up.”

It's so kindly meant. Tommy's throat tightens. He looks at Howie's serious, handsome face and considers saying, Chiseled?

“Thanks,” he says instead.

I know we're getting a Buck talking to Chimney about Bobby. I think it would be sweet to see Tommy and Chimeny talk too.

My hc is Chimney is wondering how he can move on and trying to process that Bobby gave up his life for him.

Tommy mentions that Bobby loved him and he wouldn't want him to start doubting his worth now. Chimney still hurt that Bobby did that for him.

"I wondered that myself when you pulled me from that gas leak. You risked your life to save mine. You were a really big reason why I started to live again, Howie. Let Bobby be your reason now."

he didn’t solve all his issues immediately but to me…chimney saving tommys life is part of the reason tommy is able to live authentically now
