  Спомняте ли си един друг хибрид – екстравагантният лимат, кръстоска между лимон и домат? За много по-полезно „изобретение“ намирам съчетанието между картоф и домат. Новополученото растение е доста интересно от гледна точка на това, че на стъблото се раждат чери домати, а в корените – картофи. С един куршум – два заека.

Кармат, или pomato, или TomTato – чери домати и картофи от едно стебло

Наименованието на английски е pomato = potato + tomato. На български това растение си няма име, защото е сравнително ново – първите плодове се раждат през 1994г. в Кьолн (Германия), макар че идеята да се култивира подобна кръстоска датира от 1977г. Затова го кръстих съвсем условно кармат, комбинация от „картоф“ и „домат“.

В Обединеното кралство карматът навлиза през 2013г., когато Thomson & Morgan, един от най-известните разсадници в UK пускат в продажба растението под търговското наименование TomTato. Към момента на написването на тази статия, 22 май 2017г., продуктът не е в наличност на уебсайта на Thomson & Morgan, но може да се намери от други разсадници.

22/05/16 A happy afternoon spent on the balcony garden, planting on the tomato seedlings, kohl rabi, and planting Chinese emperor greens, pak choi and basil. There s finally growth on the peonies and I think I've managed to curb the peach leaf curl disease and the peach fruit are growing - fingers crossed they grow! The rosemary were in the troughs so I repotted them for my sister, and so that I could grow my greens in them. And I have one mange tout!
