Happy happy birthday Ferret! Thank you for all your contributions to the fandom! Wishing you lots of cakes and drinks all year round!
Thank you so much!! You’re so kind and sweet :D <333333333
Congrats on your follower milestone!!! And for opening prompts! Can you do stevetony + ice skating? Your YoI posts are very influential
This is a bit late (like very, very late) but I wanted to reply because Stony!!! On ICE exists at roughly 6k! However, I’m only on episode 2. Basically, it will be a long haul–but it does exist! Here’s a wee snippet:
Tony skated, arm coming up then falling behind his head as he looked up at ceiling of the Ice Castle. He turned, bringing both arms over his chest, over his heart, imagining calling out to Steve without any words. Tony glided forward, hands coming up then back down, bowing to the ice then lifting again, turning to begin the entrance into his first quad.
There were four quads in Steve’s program. Doubling the amount in Loki’s program. There was a reason he was the best skater in the world, and if Tony could skate the program of the greatest skater in the world, than maybe none of this had been a waste. Time away from home, hours devoted to training, away from his family–if he could skate this program, than maybe it was worth it.
Tony pushed off the ice, arms coming in close as he jumped into a quad lutz. Clean, smooth. Rhodey would’ve been proud but he never managed to skate one as clean in front of his former coach.
He had to downgrade the next quad, Steve’s signature move, a quad flip, but Tony doesn’t even take an extra breath he just flies his body across the ice then moves into a camel spin. Dancing, dancing across the ice, skates catching the overhead light as he slid one direction, then the next, choreography mimicking the yearning and urgency he saw in Steve’s face whenever he skated this program.
As he moved into a flying sit spin, Tony spun and spun before breaking out into another step sequence, another jump. He managed to wobble through Steve’s quad salchow and a part of Tony winced, because it wasn’t the same, not a mirror image of Steve’s, but it was better than he’d ever done at any competition, and it felt so good, so right, skating on this ice in front of Pepper.
He made it through the combo and the triple lutz, a triple flip, skating closer to Pepper like Steve did to the judges, showing her how much he loved skating each step with every tender flick of his hand. The last quad, a combo with a triple toe loop, Tony made into a triple-triple then one last combination spin - a camel and sit - and the world around Tony blurred until he came to a stop, standing, arms wrapped around himself, breath coming out rough.
“Tony!” Pepper exclaimed. “That was amazing! I can’t believe it. A perfect copy of Rogers–”
“Not really–”
“Stop that! Close enough. You landed two quads. I’ve never seen you skate like that. Here I thought you’d be falling into your vices, not…”
“I did. But I got bored. Missed skating.”
More to come! but not for a while….
Hi! If you're still taking prompts, stevetony + cheese wheel! (And also, I want to let you know that I enjoy reading your fics and I tried thinking of ideas from the fics you wanted to write but ugh, I'm no help there. If it helps, I actually got excited when I read the plots! I would read all of them!)
On AO3
The biggest block of cheese that Steve had ever seen in his entire life greeted him as soon as he got to his room after a long day of class. He stood in the doorway, nonplussed.
“Uh,” he managed to say intelligently, the strong stench permeating every inch of his room and apparently his brain so that he couldn’t think of anything other than “Big cheese in room. Why?”
“What are you doing? Put your bag down and let’s go. We’re late for dinner and I’m starving,” Sam complained.
He stepped to the side to let Sam, who was trying to peek into the room from behind him, get a better view.
“Oh, that. I can’t believe it got to you in one piece,” Sam said as if this wasn’t odd at all but was rather something expected, which Steve couldn’t understand because he hadn’t ordered cheese, no one had mentioned getting cheese, and there wasn’t any note attached to it explaining where the cheese had come from.
Jan wriggled her way between them. “It came!” she squealed as soon as she made her way to the front, clapping with glee. “I wonder who delivered it. Maybe Vision? He wouldn’t care that much about trying a bite.” She eyed the wheel as if she were sorely tempted to slice off a chunk for herself.
“What’s all the—oh Cap, you’re back.” Patsy poked her head out of her room as if the cheese wheel had called to her—or maybe it was Jan’s shriek that had sounded the alarm. “Hey, could I try some? I’ve been waiting for Professor Pym to let you guys out to ask.” She pursed her lips at Sam’s snort. “Okay, the past three weeks,” she conceded as she walked over.
“What are you talking about?” Steve asked all of them, baffled. He turned to Patsy. “Three weeks?”
“Yeah…” she said slowly. “Did you forget?”
“I’m not sure how you could forget winning a wheel of one of the most expensive cheeses in the world,” Sam muttered.
“The most expensive—wait, win? Is this about the charity auction we had?”
“Yeah,” Patsy repeated, dragging out the word like she did the first time. She looked as though she were stuck between thinking he was pitifully dense and being insulted that he of all people got the prize when he clearly didn’t appreciate it the way she did.
Nothing about their conversation so far made any sense; if anything, Steve was more confused than when he had first entered his room.
“I didn’t bid for a cheese wheel,” he insisted.
“Yes, you did. Tony went up on the stage, and you shouted everyone down with an outrageous bid. No one wanted to fight you on it, remember? I thought Loki would, at least.” Jan held up three fingers, putting them down one by one as she rattled off her reasons. “I mean, he has the money, he loves antagonizing everyone, and he always raids Tony’s fridge. I’m surprised you went for it considering you don’t love cheese…that…much…”
She trailed off and paused, staring up at him at the same time it dawned on him that he had made a fool out of himself and couldn’t back out now without looking even more stupid. Jan, Patsy, and Sam were crowded around him, blocking the only exit.
“Steve,” Jan said slowly, “what did you think you were bidding on?”
He could feel the heat of his blush creeping down his face and neck, and considering its intensity, he knew he was as red as a fire hydrant.
“Uh,” he said for the second time in minutes.
Happy late birthday! I hope you had a good one! And wishing lots of extra good things in your life! And maybe a cake for this day!!!!
Ahhhhh thank you! It was fine, but this weekend should be fun!
Hi!! I really like reading your answered prompts. Especially the Stay Awake and Tell Me You Need Me. I like your Steve screwing up somehow and tries his best to get a second chance with Tony. And also your colorblind Steve! He's very precious and Tony's gonna take care of him and Steve will too with tony
EYY I’M GLAD SOMEONE LIKES READING THEM! Sometimes I feel like I’m wasting my time a little on them lmao so THAT’S LOVELY TO HEAR THANK YOU FOR TELLING ME THIS.
@tonystarkier replied to your post: so this is not a drill, work on Irreparable’s new...
Irreperable was the fic that made me sign up for AO3 haha I’m excited to see that you’re getting back to writing it. And much more excited to read the content since you’re writing it with a new perspective. And I’m glad you came on top after all the things that happened. Keep it up and stay strong!
Thank you! it was always meant to be a fic that evolved, even when it was originally only six chapters long, so it’s been fun.
tonystarkier replied to your post “I want to get to know you better! When you get this post 10 random...”
Is it ok to do follow up questions? Bec i want to know how with #4 & #11.
Ah, you assume neither of those is the lie :P
But okay. I’ve told the story of number 4 a few times, but maybe never on tumblr, so perhaps it’s time.
4. My mom got me into Stony.
My mom is a fandom old. She was watching Star Trek as a kid and calling her friend after each episode so they could talk about what all the characters were feeling in all the scenes. She was reading fanfic long, long before I knew what it was. She had a particular soft spot for fic for Due South, but she’s read for probably thirty different fandoms. Anyway, she introduced me to fanfic as a concept when I was a preteen, and then when I fell in love with Buffy, I sought it out myself. Once in a blue moon we’d send recs to each other, but it wasn’t until I was an adult that we could really talk about it (cause, you know, pooorn).
She broke her ankle a number of years ago and was staying at my house, laid up and bored, and one day she sent me a Stony fanfic, something I’d never looked at before. “It’s slashy,” she wrote, “but you can ignore that if you want. It’s a really good story even without the romance.” At this point, I’d only read het, mostly Spuffy, and Ten/Rose.
That fic was Four or Five Reasons for Kidnapping Tony Stark, and I was hooooked.
It wasn’t long after that I started writing fanfic. I’d been writing my whole life, but I hadn’t really explored fanfic as an outlet for that yet. I told her shortly after I started posting that I was writing fic but I didn’t tell her my name, my ships, or my fandoms. She assumed I was writing Destiel (fair enough), which she didn’t read, and I didn’t correct her.
Then one day I was at her house having tea and as I was turning to leave the room she said “something, something, or should I say FESTIVEFERRET” and I was like excUSE ME! Turns out she’d read a bunch of my stuff before, not knowing it was me, then later stared at the name and something clicked (I’d used a similar name before for a thing I did with my family). We had a good laugh about it, she promised not to read Held (lol), and every now and then she’d send me a text saying she’d read something of mine and what she liked about it. After Holiday Exchange, she read a bunch of stuff while it was still on anon and out of four guesses, she was right about three being mine. She knows me that well.
Anyway, short and short of it, is that my mom is one of my best friends, and has been shipping Stony longer than I have! And without her, I wouldn’t currently have over a hundred Stony fics on my ao3!
11. I once got bitchslapped by a bald eagle.
I do all my volunteer work in animal rescue, and I sometimes do wildlife rescue drives, where I take injured/sick/abandoned wildlife and drive it to rehab centres (they’re very spread out in this area and the drives are usually a couple hours). I was at one, dropping off some baby ducks and stretching my legs for the drive back, and the woman who owns it was like “wanna see the birds of prey?” and I was, of course, like, “duh.” So we went in the back fields, and she took me cage to cage to see all the birds of prey she was rehabbing. Some were almost ready to leave, some would probably never make it into the wild again.
One was a very saucy bald eagle with a steering problem, and I was standing in his enclosure, watching him be majestic and awesome, and he took off across the enclosure, flew right by me, and wingslapped me right across the face.
It was amazing.
(I’ve also been drooled on by baby osprey, but that’s another story.)
