i think academia should go back to it's "let's just fuck about and find out" philosophy. i'm tired of spending years devoted to a single obscure subject! like yes ill have a degree in engineering BUT maybe I want to spend a couple months researching how musical theatre migrated from the US to europe and beyond!!! i paid all this money and cried a lot, i should be able to have some fun occasionally
