   She knows she OUGHT to say something comforting, that’s just what you do in these kinds of situations, but Lucy also knows that there’s moments were words don’t truly help you any more. She’s going to try anyway, of course she is.

the more he thought about it, the more glad happy kelsey even asked it. truth be told in his nearly a decade of teaching, that was officially the first time he was asked about himself. at least from other students. it made him respect Kelsey even more. most of his students couldn't give a shit after the bell rings.

" well thank you. i appreciate that. " he told her before he laughed. "oh gosh, you have no idea. i would be lost every day, glued to a textbook. I could do it fine when I was your age, I mean I passed. but that sort of thing did not stick with me throughout the years. " he said, still smiling. plus, when do you really need half of the stuff. most of the stuff in algebra especially was for specific careers. and his job as a history and civics teacher was not one of them. the only numbers he needed was dates and years.

" so do you have any ideas what you want to do when you graduate?" ryan asked the girl before taking a sip of his water bottle.

     he’s a dad. wow. it’s been years, and he still can barely believe it. and now his exwife is on some kind of honeymoon with her new wife and while mark is left with the new baby, he’s got his daughter for a week. a whole week. how did callie ever trust him or mark to care for her daughters for a whole week. alone. it was insane. but hey, at least he didn’t have to watch the infant too. his was seven, he could handle that. at least that’s what he thought, until he  got the call from the school. day one. he has to leave the hospital to go over the school and deal with some sort of situation where his daughter didn’t go back to class after recess ? it was going to be a long week
