Go on then, I'll take ⚡number 2, what scene feels illegal to call platonic?
Go way back if you can, but also something from the last few episodes please!
Thank you for sending me this! 🩷
Okay, my obvious answer is from episode 9x13 where Eddie went to all these great lengths to save Buck because he thought he was taken by some homophobic assholes. Like they were very obviously framed as a couple so it feels weird calling it platonic.
My in depth, going further back scene, I would have to say would be 5x13... just realized it was also the 13th episode. The episode where Eddie breaks down and realizes that everyone he saved as a staff sergeant is dead. Breaking down in front of someone like that and confiding in them? That takes a lot of trust on someones part. Like that whole scene just felt so domestic and not platonic. Christopher calling Buck when he could've so easily called 9-1-1 hearing all the noise and screaming coming from Eddie's room, knowing his dad is possibly having a mental health crisis. He knew his dad was hurting and he knew the only person that could make it better was Buck.
They need to be on a different level for Christopher to be making that call of phoning Buck.
The way Buck lets himself into Eddie's house because he has a key. The way Buck knows just how to calm Christopher down knowing how scared Chris is. Seeing the look on Buck's face when he's knocking on Eddie's door but not wanting to scare Chris so he keeps his voice calm even though you can tell he want's to scream and bang on the door to get Eddie to open up.
Then rushing inside and taking in all the damage, his heart probably just sinking to the floor when he doesn't see Eddie right away, thinking something's happened to him. Then just collapsing beside him when he finally sees him and looking scared out of his mind when Eddie just breaks down in front of him and forcing himself to stay strong for Eddie.
After when he finally gets Eddie calm and out of his room, going to talk to Christopher and Eddie trusting Buck enough to let him calm Chris down and letting him deal with everything and the aftermath while he just takes a minute to control himself. Buck admitting to him that Christopher wasn't the only one that was scared out of his mind seeing and hearing Eddie like that.
Eddie apologizing to Buck for scaring Chris like Chris was Buck's child too and telling him everything while he continues to just let tears fall. Allowing himself to be weak in front of Buck after not being weak in front of anyone, letting Buck see his tears and the hurt in himself. Confiding in him knowing he'll understand.
The broken, "I'm afraid."
and Buck's gentle, "Okay, okay. What are you afraid of?" So soft and quiet, letting Eddie know that it's okay to be afraid. That he's acknowledging it and not telling Eddie he doesn't have to be afraid.
That scene felt more like a moment you would have with your significant other, the person you trust wholeheartedly and more than anyone else in the world. That person was Buck for Eddie and for Christopher. That moment went beyond friendship for me. That did not feel like a platonic moment to me.
Okay, I'm done, sorry I rambled. Thanks for the ask!
