It’s been so long since I continued with the fantastic Throne Of Glass series. This is a franchise that really seems to divide its readers but I’m here for it. Counting The Assassin’s Blade which is (kind of) a prequel, Tower Of Dawn is the seventh book in the series. ⁣ ⁣ Maas left us with such a cliffhanger at the end of Empire Of Storms that if I hadn’t known that this book would be a bit of a departure for the story, I would have been infuriated. This is Chaol Westfall’s time in the spotlight. The novel follows him and Nesryn Falik as they attempt to forge an alliance with the city of Antica and beg assistance for the horrific war that lies ahead of them. ⁣ ⁣ We also meet Yrene, a healer who has sworn an oath to help those who need her. She’s now become one of my favourite characters in this series, she was so personable, kind-hearted, brave and strong that I challenge anyone to read this book and not fall in love with her! Yrene and Chaol have both been through trauma and heartbreak but they work together to forge an uncertain but very crucial relationship. ⁣ ⁣ It took me a little while to feel comfortable in the world of Tower Of Dawn, however the fault is mine in this instance, having waited so long to read it! It wasn’t long however before I was completely hooked and tearing through the pages like a woman possessed. As always with Maas, the settings and characters she creates are extraordinary, diverse and incredibly memorable. ⁣ ⁣ I’m almost halfway through the last book in the Throne Of Glass world, Kingdom Of Ash as I write this, but it’s one of those series that I could easily go right back to the beginning and start again. Tower of Dawn is the 6th book in the Throne of Glass series from Sarah J. Maas. “Chaol Westfall and Nesryn Faliq have traveled to Antica, hoping to forge an alliance with the khagan - ruler of the southern continent. Chaol also wants help from the legendary healers of the Torre for wounds he received in the Rifthold. They are all looking for answers that will save them…and the world.” I had low expectations with this book because of some comments and reviews l had seen. It’s sort of a companion book to Empire of Storms - both books are happening at the same time. And the main character, Celeana, is not even in this book (other than as a mention) That said, this book is still full of the wonderful characters, descriptions and narrative that makes Maas a wonderful writer. The ruks 🦅😮 - I could feel that cold air flying past my face. And the reveal about Maeve, the Fae Queen 😱 It’s setting up nicely for the final book. (Now I have to work a thousand page book into December reads). Maas pulled me in again. It’ll be tough to see the end of this series.
