Relief
I’ve been playing the demo again and falling once more for the roach.
I am now trying to see everything I’ve missed about him—
glitching newman!
have been really getting into a painterly/glazing sort of style lately
The real question is when will I write fanfics that aren't about @the-passenger-if ?
Maria Newman wasn't a believer.
The idea of God just didn't seem to make sense. She went to church, she read the Bible, she did everything her parents told her to do as a child... But eventually she stopped believing that God was really there.
That is... Until the birth of her second child.
She got an epidural that time. Every precaution was in place to make it smooth and painless. Everything was going perfectly. Her husband reached over to take her hand in the final moments before their child arrived and in an instant everything changed.
A searing pain coursed through her body, almost as if all the pain meds had worn off. Then it got worse, it felt like she was on fire, her vision going white. The only thing she was able to focus on was just how much everything hurt. Her screaming was heard well down the hall and the doctors rushed to calm her as best they could. Even after her child had been born the pain continued to flow through her body. A fire struck every nerve, then her husband's hand slipped out of her's and it stopped.
She looked around the room as her blurry vision slowly returned. Across the room doctors worked trying to make her child breathe, and next to her nurses aided to her convulsing husband. She sat alone crying on the bed, body sore and terrified. Eventually her child began to breathe and her husband stopped.
That's the moment she believed God was punishing her for leaving.
One week later she prayed for the first time in years, holding the hand of her daughter and her newborn in her empty arm. They sat back, staring at a fresh grave once the rest of their family had left. She knew she was being punished but prayed her children wouldn't suffer for what she had done. Almost immediately, however, her newborn started showing odd behaviors.
First it was the odd behaviors, then the hand biting, then the migraines later in life... She couldn't help but feel as though they were being punished for what she did.
She knew she saw something that night her child was born... She was just praying it was an angel... Not the demon she knew it was.
