Platonic Yandere TPN
Chapter 1
2,514 word count
TW: nothing aside from spoilers of ep 1 at the very end of the story
(This story is just an introduction to the whole plot of the story, so barely interaction between platonic yanderes and reader in this one, sorry! If you've already watched the anime or read the manga, you could honestly just skip the rest of the story after the child's adoption.)
Grace Field House. The very orphanage you and your siblings grew up in. It was everyone’s home. Mother Emma’s, Father Norman's, the children’s, and yours. Everyone loved and cared for each, especially with the way Mother Emma and Father Norman showed affection for the children.
Although, you supposed it made sense since children were always getting adopted every few months. You assumed that papa and mama were just trying to express their love for each child since it was unpredictable when one of them would get adopted.
Not you though, you were one of the oldest children at the orphanage. Although you were desperate to get adopted like your other siblings, it also saddened you to think that you would leave the very place you grew up in. Especially leaving all your family behind just for another new one that wasn’t even guaranteed to be as good as the orphanage.
Perhaps that’s why mama is always telling everyone to cherish each moment as if it was their last. Although, if she always said that, then why didn’t she-
“(Y/N)!”
A little girl’s voice broke you out of your thoughts, making you drop the book you were holding. You quickly looked up to see Ava, her little brown pigtails bouncing around as she approached you with a smile.
“(Y/N)! Papa told me to tell you lunch was ready!”
You smiled, getting up from your spot as you gently patted her head, thanking her for the announcement. Both of you walked alongside each other as you made your way to the dining hall. There, everyone was already settled into their seats and laughing and talking. Mama was cutting up the food into smaller bits for the younger kids as papa was engaging in a conversation with the kids around him.
You took your usual seat at the middle table, the one table out of the 3 where no parent was present. Papa always sat at the right table on the end near the door while mama sat on the end of the left table. There was no end seat at the middle table due to no one ever sitting there.
Just as you were spacing out again, a cheerful yet tired voice was heard on your right side.
“As often as the tests are, I swear I’ll still never get used to them.”
Charlotte’s comment made you smile.
“But you always get decent scores on them, isn’t that enough to ease at least some of your stress?”
She immediately went pouty at your comment, crossing her arms as she did.
“Easy for you to say, you always get a perfect score along with Liam and Alex!”
Alex and Liam, the main people you hung out around. They were the same age as you and were similar in intelligence as you. Perhaps it was a coincidence, but all 3 of you got along just so well together.
Playing tag and hide and seek with them was always so fun since it was more of a challenge due to each other’s intelligence. Liam was athletic, so tag always turned into more of a game of strategy rather than actual running. Alex was always observant, so just like with Liam, it became more of a game of strategy instead of genuine hiding.
However, no matter how many times you lost or won each game, the outcome was always the same. All 3 of you smiling and laughing from how much fun you all had. A memory that has long since been engraved into your head ever since your first game of tag.
Was it a shock that-
“Hello? Earth to (Y/N)?”
You shook your head to snap yourself out of spacing out, making Charlotte laugh..
“You’re spacing out again, (Y/N)!”
Her comment made you sheepishly smile as you replied.
“Sorry about that, I just usually end up in deep thought from time to time. I’ve tried to get in the habit of not doing so, but I guess I always end up circling back to it no matter what I do.”
She simply nods before going back to complaining about the tests and talking about the activities she has planned for the afternoon. While doing so, Alex and Liam showed up to the seats across from yours and Charlotte’s. They greeted you before going back to their usual bickering. ‘Classic behavior from them’ you thought as you stared at the plate in front of you.
The ringing of a tiny bell was heard from the far end of the left table, mama smiling as she announced it was time to give thanks for the food.
Every child closed their eyes to give thanks before everyone began eating. Lunch went as usual, mama and papa releasing the children for free time afterwards. You played tag with the other children as always, running away for as long as you could the entire round.
Alex was it to no one’s surprise, but it never made it easier to bypass his observant behavior. Despite lacking as high of stamina as Liam or other fast children, his intelligence made up for it.
That’s how he always caught so many kids in such little time. Still, Liam was always the last one to be caught. You were also sometimes one of the last people, but it was usually on the days you weren’t too indulged in spacing out.
It was a shame that today wasn’t that day.
You felt a tap on your shoulder as you were running, making you come to a halt as you turned around. Alex was already there with a knowing smile as he said ‘tag’. You sighed in defeat as you complained about him taking advantage of your spacing out before going back near the house where the majority of the other children were.
A couple minutes passed and Liam and Alex were seen walking up the hill, all the children talking about how it was always Liam that was last. It made you smile as they came up to you, settling beside you as Liam complained about how Alex was too smart for his own good.
All of you guys talked until the sun started to set, the sign to go back inside and start getting ready for dinner. As you walked to the staircase, you overheard some talking from mama and one of the little kids.
“It’s my birthday tomorrow, mama!”
Emma smiles as she looks at the calendar.
“Yes, it sure is, Noah. I hope you’re excited about getting adopted.”
Noah immediately nods, talking about how much stuff he’s going to do in the outside world. The scene made a bittersweet smile appear on your face as it made you both happy and sad that one of the 6 year olds was being adopted.
Yet just as you were about to go upstairs, you noticed a solemn smile on mama’s face. It would’ve just seemed like a moment where a mother was comprehending letting her child go, but something about it looked off.
The look was gone just as fast as it appeared, her locking eyes with you the moment she took her eyes off the calendar. You snap out of your daze as you put on a smile and wave. She reciprocates the action before grabbing ahold of Noah’s hand, gently talking to him as she walks away.
Just as you sat on your bed, you started thinking about mama’s expression. It didn’t make sense to you to be paranoid about something so little as a look, it was mama after all. She was probably just sad thinking about Noah, right?
Dinnertime came around, everyone gathered in the dining hall as mama and papa reminded everyone to give thanks. Mama also made an announcement that reminded everyone it was Noah’s last day here tomorrow, so everyone should try their best to spend time with him before tomorrow night.
Some of the other 6 year olds like Ethan, Violet, and Leo complained, clinging onto Noah as they talked about how much they didn’t want him to leave. Others discussed what to do tomorrow to make Noah’s last day unforgettable.
It was a thought that took up space in everyone’s mind as they slept that night.
The next day went as usual, breakfast for the first hour before some free time. Then a test and mama announcing that the three oldest kids, you, Liam, and Alex getting perfect scores again. Some more free time before dinner and the moment everyone was waiting for.
“Everyone, say your goodbyes to Noah. He’s going to join his new family tonight.”
Mama was holding a briefcase full of Noah’s belongings as Noah stood in front of her with a sad smile. He was trying hard not to cry as he promised to never forget this place and send letters, but he started crying only after the first couple words.
This caused a chain reaction as some of the other kids started to cry, bidding him farewell as they told him how much they were going to miss him.
Shortly afterwards, mama guided Noah out the orphanage doors with a briefcase and lantern in hand. Papa took over after she left, telling everyone to get ready for bed as he gently ushered the children upstairs.
It was yours as well as Charlotte’s and Liam’s turn to tidy up the dining hall, papa instructing you all to just clean up the leftover plates and sweep the floor. He left after that, leaving just the 3 of you alone.
You were busy sweeping the floors as the 3 of you conversed in a conversation about the day. Yet as you looked out the window, you caught a glimpse of the lights outside the giant gate where children were taken to be adopted.
It made you sigh as you tried not to feel too down from thinking about how many of your siblings were being adopted every few months. It always tended to be kids under 10 too, something you always wondered about.
Oh well, mama and papa always said kids always get adopted by 12 if not before then. Hopefully you’d get a nice family, one that-
“Seriously? You can’t just try to follow mama and Noah to the gate! It’s been only like 15 minutes, no way mama wouldn’t spot you.”
Charlotte’s comment made you stop sweeping and focus on Liam’s and Charlotte’s conversation.
“Oh come on, weren’t you ever curious about how our siblings are taken to their new home? My curiosity grows with each new adoption and I feel like I can’t hold it back anymore!”
Before Charlotte could say anything, you chimed in with your own thought.
“Don’t be stupid, Noah. There’s no way your curiosity is worth getting in trouble with mama and papa. You’re probably going to get put on every cleaning duty if you get caught.”
He automatically defends himself, saying he’ll be as sneaky as possible. Both you and Charlotte rolled your eyes at his nonsense, saying how he’ll never be able to pull it off.
This just drove his determination even more, causing him to say he’ll prove himself.
“If both of you doubt me, then I’ll prove it! I’ll go down there right now without getting caught!”
“Oh really? Then go there right now! I want to see you try and make it there without anyone seeing you!”
Charlotte’s sudden dare caught you off guard as you tried to downplay her words.
“Hold on just a second, this could go bad. I really don’t think-”
“Too late! I’m ready to bring both of you down!”
Off Liam went as he set the plates in his hand down on a nearby table, telling both of you to watch from the window as he went off.
You watched from the window as you and Charlotte spent time cleaning the rest of the dining hall. Half an hour passed and Liam still wasn’t back, worrying you more than it worried Charlotte.
“He probably got caught by mama and is being scolded. Don’t worry too much about it, (Y/N), he’ll come back after everyone falls asleep at the latest. I just can’t wait to rub it in his face that he was wrong!”
She simply patted your shoulder for comfort before leaving to join everyone else upstairs for bed. You couldn’t help but want to wait for Liam to come back just to make sure he was fine.
Another half an hour and your worries spiked up by double, wondering where he was. Your eyes were so focused on the window you didn’t even notice papa behind you.
“(Y/N)? Are you done with cleaning the dining hall?”
You turned around to look at him, a nervous smile on your face as you nodded.
“Yeah, I’m just waiting for Liam to come back from the bathroom.”
Despite Norman’s understanding smile and nod, he could sense something was wrong.
“Alright, well why don’t you go to bed in the meantime? I’m sure he’ll just show up to the room once he’s done.”
His words made you worry even more as you didn’t want to expose Liam’s secret adventure. ‘How am I supposed to explain Liam was going against the rules and going near the gate without saying it!?’ you thought.
As if on cue, a thud was heard upstairs, a child’s cry following afterwards. Norman instinctively went towards the sound, simply telling you to just not sleep too late. He left after that.
After another 10 minutes, you noticed a figure moving through the dark towards the orphanage. It made you feel hope as you went to the front doors to meet up with Liam.
As one of the doors was slowly opening, you automatically scolded Liam for doing something reckless and worrying you. You only stopped once realizing he was desperately trying to catch his breath with a horrified look on his face.
“Liam? Are you ok? What happened out there?”
He only looked up at you once catching his breath, shakily telling you to just follow him into the library. This severely worried you since he was never this serious about anything.
The moment the library doors closed, Liam broke out in tears, shakily and quietly speaking as he placed his hands on your shoulders.
“(Y/N), the gate- it isn’t a gate. It’s much worse.”
“What do you mean? What did you see out there?”
He locked eyes with you with sincerity as his voice went even lower.
“Noah wasn’t adopted, he was killed. This place isn’t an orphanage, it’s a farm, and we’re the crops.”
His words shook you as you tried to comprehend his words, both confused and terrified. One side of you thought he was playing around, but joking about something so serious was never like him.
“How did you-”
“It was all there. Noah’s body was in the back of a truck. They then put his dead body into a capsule and talked about how he was normal quality meat.”
“Who is ‘they’?”
“Demons, (Y/N). Actual demons.”
Author's note: there will be platonic yandere behavior from here on out in future chapters!
Still salty with how they butchered season two of The Promised Neverland.
i will forever hate how the anime made it seem like norman ONLY cared about emma and not ray like his nightmare, in the anime he only held her but in the manga he went for them both. Also when he broke down after the entire demon thing both emma AND ray hugged him. its like they read norman liked emma and went "oh yeah lets completely forget about ray"
so when a sister or mom or grandma gets killed by the demons in TPN and gets shipped out is there any confirmation on whether they'd be cheaper or more expensive than the children? bc i get that the brain is what the demons mainly eat but would their age be beneficial or not? in my mind it seems like 12 is the prime age and as they get older their "value" would decrease, like how lamb meat is far more valuable than mutton. which would then mean that the more time any of the women put into the system, the less valuable they become as food. so like all of that. lowkey for nothing. just to probably be priced below a 6 year old.
