Natsuo probably has a lot of stuff meant to last a long time that he just doesn't use.

He's expecting to be cut off at any moment, but for now he has access to practically unlimited money, so he's going to use it to stockpile things for when he is cut off.

He'd get a bunch of spare clothes and shoes so that he wouldn't need to worry about getting new ones for quite a while.

Buy a lot of food that doesn't go bad, or can be frozen for a long time, so that he doesn't need to worry about what he's going to eat if he can't get a job quickly, or gets fired.

And then some other things I'm less sure he would do:

Getting the newest phone whenever it releases, so that if he gets cut off he isn't stuck with one that's already several generations behind.

Paying for any subscription services in as large of a time period as he can, so that he can still get them for as long as he can after he gets cut off.

Buying expensive jewelry that he could sell for some extra money.

And like. Natsuo thinks that Enji either doesn't check his bank statements or he doesn't care/forgot that Natsuo still has a card attached to the account

The thing is that Enji does pay attention he just. Doesn't think anything's that off about it?

Like Natsuo starts this idea during High School a little bit. Not a lot but certainly enough that if he got cut off at 18 he wouldn't flounder. But Enji looks at the charges and thinks it's a combo of "He's hanging out with friends in places he can spend money rather than holeing up at home" and "He's probably buying stuff for friends to be nice because he can". Toya and Fuyumi did this too .

The whole thing ramps up when Natsuo is 18 and just graduated but even then it's not like. Weird. He just moved out so ofc he needs to buy all new household appliances. And he's an adult who stopped growing finally so it's normal it invest in his clothing style since he can actually wear these outfits for years to come instead of growing out of them in a week.

The phone is a touch frivolous, but he /is/ still a teenager. The jewelry would be odd, but Enji would assume he bought it as like. A birthday/christmas gift for Fuyumi or backlog gifts for Rei(she can't have jewelry in the hospital), or maybe even a girlfriend that he hasn't brought home yet.

And the funny thing is that even if Enji did figure out that Natsuo was doing this as a 'set up in case I get cut off', he'd assume Natsuo was doing it for an entirely different reason.

Because like. Enji knows what it's like to suddenly have that safety net yoinked. He grew up in that situation. The drained finances after his mother died. His father dying and leaving him a decent amount but not enough that he would've been able to live on his own until he could get his own career. Enji was lucky that he was still a kid and legally had to have some guardian providing food and shelter when that happened.

For Natsuo who is just moving out and starting college but still mostly relying on his father's money? If Enji died that'd disappear. Sure the money left in his account would be inheritance, but there'd be no income. So it'd drain out eventually. So Natsuo taking steps to ensure he doesn't get rugpulled and can survive until he gets his career set up makes sense.

So yeah Natsuo is paranoidly running around trying to set up what he thinks is inevitable and Enji's like "Yeah that sounds normal!" and doesn't think to address it

Does anyone remember that pirate AU I drew a few months ago? Well, I have not stopped thinking about it. And I am also not planning on stopping anytime soon.

Alternative title: pirate Juno....... pretty.
