In Mill is dit bijzondere voertuig te vinden ter herinnering aan 1st Canadian Armoured Carrier Regiment. Deze bestond uit Canadese troepen, welke zich verplaatsen met een Canadees gepantserd voertuig; the Kangaroo. In Mill is een van de laatste Kangaroos te vinden. Vanuit deze plaats vertrok het regiment tijdens operaties die het dwars door Noord-Brabant zouden voeren. Onder andere Boxtel, Den Bosch, Kaatsheuvel en Tilburg werden tijdens deze operaties aangedaan en bevrijd (in combinatie met andere troepen). Het regiment zou in 1945 ook deelnemen aan operatie Plunder, waarbij de Rijn werd overgestoken en Duitsland zelf werd binnengevallen. Deze Kangaroo heeft een afgesloten bovenkant. Deze was in de oorlog open, hier zaten de troepen die zich met het voertuig verplaatsten. ————- At the small town of Mill this RAM Kangaroo can be found. The Kangaroo is a Canadian vehicle which was used to transport troops during World War 2. The 1st Canadian Armoured Carrier Regiment was active throughout the Dutch province of Noord-Brabant during the autumn of 1944. Park Toorenvliedt is een prachtig stadspark in Middelburg. Bijzonder aan deze plek is dat het park meerdere Duitse bunkers omvat. In de Tweede Wereldoorlog lag het park aan de rand van de stad en was het het hoofdkwartier van de Duitse kustverdediging in Zeeland. Na de oorlog bleek dat het opruimen van de bunkers een lastige opgave zou worden en is er een park gesitueerd, waarbij de bunkers aanvankelijk onder de grond werden verborgen. In recente jaren zijn de bunkers weer blootgelegd en hebben sommige een speelfunctie gekregen. Op deze manier leren kinderen op een speelse wijze over de bewogen geschiedenis van het gebied. —————- At Middelburg you can find park Toorenvliedt. In World War 2 this site was the headquarters of the German defence in Zeeland. Many bunkers were build. After the war it was concluded that it was hard to demolish the bunkers and they were hided after which a park was created. In recent years the bunkers were excavated and some were changed into playgrounds for children so they can learn about the history of the war. The Tugu Negara is the world's tallest bronze freestanding sculpture grouping. TO OUR GLORIOUS DEAD. The Cenotaph Kuala Lumpur. Created by the #penjajah British of Malaya in 1921 to honour the memory of those who died in WWI. Subsequently, the cenotaphs role was expanded to include those who died in WWII and Malayan Emergency (Darurat). The original location of the memorial was near what is now the old Kuala Lumpur Railway Station, at the intersection on Cenotaph Road and Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin. The cenotaph was moved in 1966 to its current location in the Taman Tasik Perdana (Lake Garden) Kuala Lumpur and is part of the Malaysian National Monument. On the 31st of July an annual ceremony is held here to mark the nations respect for its fallen heroes. On the monument, it is written (in English and Malay) “To Our Glorious Dead" and "Untok Mengingati Jasa Pahlawan-pahlawan Yang Gugor" with dates of the First World War (1914-1918), Second World War (1939-1945) and the Malaysian Emergency (1948-1960).
