Teenager Bill Kolb gets a traffic ticket
(Charlotte Brooks. 1958)
About 2 weeks ago I was driving back home, I dont remember where I was coming from but instead of going home the same way I always go I decided to go a different way. There’s a traffic light where I have to turn left which was green, so I turned left only that I didn’t notice that they have an arrow to turn left and it was RED. I unfortunately noticed too late as I was already in the middle of the intersection. And I was tired. It’s not the first time I come back home that way but I just didn’t remember or noticed. I remember looking back to see if there was a camera and I didn’t notice one. THERE IS A CAMERA! Today I got a ticket! It took a picture!$100 🫤 and it came in David’s name 😂 he thought that he had been driving my car and he ran a red light. And to think that they just passed a law about disabling those cameras, not sure the reason why, but I guess it hasn’t been implemented yet. What bothers me is that there are so many people who drive so badly and reckless not caring and I try to be careful and something like this happens.
Great news (kind of)... the sweet angel at the municipal court office pulled my tickets from collections and I was able to pay them online (without any late fees... or convenience fees for paying online, which is the true miracle here). I should be able to renew my tabs tomorrow or Friday.
Turns out my tickets went to my last address since that is the address my car was registered to when I got the tickets. Oops. If I had just forwarded my mail (or changed the address I had my car registered to in a timely fashion), this could’ve all been avoided. Or, more-over... not get tickets in the first place. I drive so infrequently and yet I still got caught twice by traffic cameras. I vaguely remember driving once and thinking, “Oh, I’m definitely getting a ticket for that.” I should’ve known something was up when the ticket never came. Though, honestly, I probably forgot about it later that day. My brain sucks.
