New update on the thesis. I have finished reading and rereading the first chapter and I wrote the professor an email sending it. I also had a few questions to ask her so I did all in one go. I am a bit nervous but also excited to hear what she says about it, mostly because it will give me a lot of help with the rest of my work, as I will have a clearer idea of what she wants me to do. Aside from this writing related things today I did a bit of organization of the material I gathered yesterday at the archive. I have divided the photos in chuncks, and I have more or less decided which parts I will start working on first. Tomorrow I plan on rereading and reorganizing the notes I took while I was at the archive, and after that I will actually start working on those documents.

tranquilstudy's studying challenge // day 22
What are three things you want right now?
Some peace of mind
More confidence
On a much more material side of things, I want an exciting pile of new books for the summer months. Lately nothing on my unread shelves seems exciting for me.
july 12 | took this picture in the middle of a rainstorm. it didn’t stop me from getting to my destination: the bookstore! In this trip I picked up “To The Lighthouse” by Virginia Woolf.
tranquil’s summer challenge ☀️
I guess we’re getting close to the end of this challenge, huh? I hope everyone’s been having fun so far. I’m grateful for all the people that did this with me!
Day Twenty-Six: What makes you nostalgic? Share some of your favourite memories from your childhood!
I just heard someone talk about the build-a-bear online game and I went NUTS with nostalgia. I also have a lot of nostalgia from the video game “Professor Layton”, which I’ve been listening to the soundtrack of a lot recently. Loved that game as a kid!
Day Twenty-Seven: Take some pictures studying outside in the sun!
I’ve been so busy and the weather has been so dodgy that I haven’t been studying outside much. I have been visiting book shops though!
photos from the marine exhibits at the national museum of natural history in manila!

Day Three: Do you have any tips for people sending professional emails... ?
• Create a signature block for your emails. Especially if you're under a certain institution or company. Helps save a lot of time when writing emails, and will keep them professional and corteous.
• Email within business hours, or schedule your emails to send within/at a certain time (ex.: 9am, Monday). Respect poeple's time off to rest after a full work day!
2022 • tranquil studyblr challenge (ft. some images to summarize what i’ve been up to lately)
hello! i’m starting very late in the game cause i somehow missed everything else so I wanted to go over the day 1 prompt before finishing with the last ten to give an intro and where i’m at :)
my name is jay and i’ve had this blog for a while but i still haven’t interacted much with the community! starting this challenge I am waiting to hear back from job applications and waiting for my summer volunteer positions to start up. really, there’s a lot of empty space in my days right now that I am only filling idly and I would like to lean into the last of this challenge to add some purposeful interaction/reflection.
today i am grateful for my body even when it aches like it is right now <3
since there's 77 days / 11 full weeks left until sept. 1st i guess i'll just frankenstein together some #dop and studyblr challenges haha let's go ~
( @wecandoit’s #30dop )
I'll be studying a creative media and technologies / game design type thing ! I'm not a gamer but it's the one thing that I feel will string together all my hobbies and passions ( architecture / composition / ling / psych / pretty things / studying people / etc / etc ) + the skills I want to learn ( design / programming / tech ) in an engaging way !
( @tranquilstudy's #tranquilstudychallenge )
It is well with my soul and I'm looking forward to finally starting something new soon ! I had to bridge a couple big changes in life but I'm finally settling in a bit :-) now all that's left is prepare for school to start.
Before it does though, I hope to get into a solid study and workout mindset, as well as brush up a few skills that will be helpful at uni, like setting up a portfolio and such !!
Day One: A brief introduction of yourself! Where are you at in life at the start of this challenge? How are you feeling? Are you happy with the way your life is right now? What do you hope to gain from doing this challenge? They say that starting is the hardest part. Do you find starting this challenge difficult?
Today was my last uni final and now the realization that I’m graduating next week is starting to sink in. Somehow I can’t seem to get in that celebratory mood. I plan to study for the residency admission exam in November and to finish my thesis so I mainly joined this challenge to stay consistent.
Day Two: It’s pride month! How do you identify, gender-wise and sexuality-wise, if you’re comfortable sharing? Do you do anything for pride?
I identify as asexual with she/her pronouns. I don’t do anything grand to celebrate; instead I paint my nails in the ace flag colors. : )
Day 8: Do you read? If you do, what are your favorites?
I *love* to read! When I was younger, people would compare me to Roald Dahl's character Matilda because of how much I read.
My English favorites tend to revolve around theology (not a conscious choice). The favorite I've had for the longest is The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky. A new favorite of mine is Chaim Potok's book The Chosen. It's about two Jewish boys growing up in Brooklyn. It's been a long time since I was last enraptured with a book like I was with The Chosen.
I don't have too much experience reading in other languages. In Spanish, I am reading children's books, but I inherited a copy of Los Sueños de Don Bosco from my grandmother that I want to read soon. In Hebrew, my boyfriend has helped me read a bit of Pirkei Avot (the Sayings of the Fathers), which I enjoy.
Tranquilstudy's Summer Challenge
Day Seventeen: Spring is in the air this time of year! Share some photos of nature and tell us your favourite types of plants and flowers!
Alas, I have no nature photos! But I can tell you about my favorite flowers. My favorite flowers are roses and carnations. If I ever have another tattoo done, I want to get a pink carnation and a red rose.
Today's Tasks
[X] Work
[X] Duolingo Spanish (History -> Level 3 to Level 5)
Still alive, even if it's too hot to exist. I was working the whole of last week, did a weaving workshop at a little afternoon for kids, a Day with Imperial Romans, it was pretty fun. And went to opera yesterday with my roommate! It was amazing, I haven't been to one in years and it was a balm for my soul, amazing scene, truly beautiful, great costumes (especially Desdemona) and the music.... goosebumps. Especially at the beginning, it was so dramatic. Loved it.
Left - shortcute through the train station; middle - cardwoven bracelet, I'm quite proud of it actually; right - poster for the upcoming opera season.
Currently reading: The Sorceress by Michael Scott (love how it took me a week to get through the first book but then I inhaled the second and half of the third book in one day)
Catch up after the cut🌱
Day Eight: What would you say to people that are stuck in a difficult or toxic relationship, be it friendships, romantic relationships or relationships with family?
I'd say get out, but that's not so easy. So probably just that it will be better, they are better off without them and that time and distance help a lot.
Day Nine: What do you do when you're sad? What makes you feel better during difficult or trying times?
Cry. Write poetry. Sleep. Unless I need to be productive, then I just play aggressive music, have a smoke, turn a bit bitter and get shit done. And then I cry and sleep.
Day Ten: Are you writing any papers/ doing thesis work/ journaling) general writing right now? If so, share what you've been working on! If not, share a picture of your favourite set of notes you've written.
I'm not writing anything as of rn, so here they come? I don't have a favourite set of notes, but I do like these:
Day Eleven: What are you're biggest fears? What tips would you give someone trying to overcome their fears?
Being left alone (said the girl who moved out of her country and sees her family and close friends 2-3 times a year). I have a lot of fears, and I don't think I've overcome any of them, just learned how to ignore them. But having a safe space to try and overcome your fear helps. Knowing that even if you fail, it's all alright and you're safe, someone safe is with you and that you're not left alone. Having someone to talk you down does a lot, too.
Day Twelve: What reminds you of home? Share some pictures that you've taken around your city (or your favourite public place or coffee shop to study or read in your city).
Broth. Gardens. Books. Mom's cooking and hugs, dad's jokes and cigarette smell. Our cats. Grandma's perfume. That one watch. I find fields and remízky comforting.
(Picture by my friend when he visited during holidays; river behind our village)
Day Thirteen: What happens when you come across a concept that you just can't wrap your head around in your studies? What tips do you have to make difficult concepts easier to grasp?
Take a break, make tea, open the window. Consult other notes, try to break it down into smaller concepts and try to find the system or parts that I already know/understand. Ask a friend/teacher for help. No, really, take consultations and ask your teachers.
Day Fourteen: Have you ever done a productivity challenge? Were you successful?
Nope and I don't think I will do one anytime soon. I know it just won't work for me and that's fine.
