My partner is taking a class I recommend them and apparently the prof AND assigned readings have changed since I've taken it. It's a trans studies class and when I took it the class was about history and the meaning of being trans and how we define queerness. Now the class is about likening transness to a disability and how being trans is only suffering and pain and a disease on the person who is trans. Both times the class was taught by a trans person, but the one teaching it now has such a hatred for themself that they're claiming that the trans community is that of hating one's self which is just not reality. I've had to apologize profusely for recommending this class to folks and rescinded my recommendation to those who haven't taken it yet. I can't understand not only being trans but teaching a class about transness while thinking of transness as vile. It's beautiful and something to be done to love yourself and to be happy as yourself, not as a last resort that brings you anguish at the idea of being you.

"The U.S. Education Department on Wednesday expanded its interpretation of federal sex protections to include transgender and gay students, a move that reverses Trump-era policy and stands against proposals in many states to bar transgender girls from school sports. In a new policy directive, the department said discrimination based on a student's sexual orientation or gender identity will be treated as a violation of Title IX, the 1972 federal law that protects against sex discrimination in education.

fundraiser for a trans student

Hello everyone! My name is Rio. I'm a student from Romania and I'm transgender. My family is very transphobic and homophobic so I can't come out to them. I am neurodivergent and need to get therapy to be able to complete my studies and get a job. I am struggling with money because my family barely helps me and since I can't go to therapy I can't mentally hold a job. Last year, my parents didn't pay for my tuition so I had to get help from my friends. I am beyond desperate and if anyone can help I would be forever grateful. I cannot post pictures or my real name because I am afraid of my family finding out about this and cutting me off completely before I have enough money to walk away from them myself.

I am posting here because I don't know where else to get some people to see my fundraiser, since I am hiding my identity. I really hope at least one or two people see this, so I can at least get some help for groceries and food. My mother is basically starving me, giving me almost no money for food every month, so it's very very hard to get by without the help of my friends, who are also students and struggling in their own ways. Thank you for giving me a minute of your time and even if you can't help that is okay as well! I hope everyone is safe and healthy and please remember to eat well and keep yourself hydrated. And please, please show love and respect to those in your life. And to family members of trans kids: remember, they are still your kids no matter what gender they are. Please, love and support them.
