purposefully using they/them pronouns for someone who you know does not use they/them, verses using they/them pronouns for someone because you don't know their pronouns, is not the same thing.

the whole point of using neutral pronouns when you don't know, is to not be assuming when you don't know.

if you DO know how to address someone correctly, do that???

I feel like people don't talk enough about the body dysmorphia that comes along with being trans. We often talk about dysphoria and how just perceiving our body can make us filled with dread but there's also the feeling when we genuinely start to see ourselves as what we want to be (or at least I do). When we have such a different perception of our own body that we don't recognize our body as our own. We start to feel that we really do have entirely different parts than that of what we actually have.

I find that I can't even look at myself naked in the mirror anymore. If I even catch a glimpse before showers then I get upset. I don't recognize what I am shown as my own body and it confuses me. Who is that that I am looking at? Is that me? I forgot what it is looks like to be completely bare. I find myself looking away as fast as I can or even closing my eyes before I can catch a glimpse, for I do not want to see anymore.

Nevermind what comes along with having to touch your body in ways that confuse you but have to be done.

This is way more political than what I normally post and I might totally sound like a conspiracy theorist but I wanna see if other people understand this train of thought I'm having...

Okay so, a while ago someone I follow posted about getting reccomended more transmasc stuff as a trans women and that made me THINK and it made me realize that like,, I've also seen more transmasc stuff during my time in queer spaces. I've also noticed it seems like trans women are more demonized?? Like whenever I see people talking negatively about trans women its ALWAYS "men in women's restrooms!!!" and other related stuff about trans women, It's so odd. not to say trans men ARENT demonized, they obviously are, and thats terrible too! Transgender people SHOULD NOT be demonized EVER.

But it's funny in a weird way, It's almost like no matter what branch of women you are people STILL hate you, men are STILL more discussed than you.

EDIT: it's been a day and I wanna make some quick notes to this that were pointed out by some very lovely (/gen) asks and commentors;

1. I'm aware the reason I see more transmasc stuff is because I AM transmasc, don't know how I didn't think about that sooner.

2. I'm aware of how transmasc people are demonized! At the time of writing the original post I didn't really know, but now I've learned it's more of a "Save these defenseless girls!" as opposed to "GET these men out of the girls restrooms!"

3. The post was supposed to be more theory than actual statement, I've looked up stuff related to transmisogny and transandrophobia, and while I think it is probably a real thing (it's not that insane of an idea that trans women and trans men are hated for that) it seems like a whole mess and honestly? I don't know how much I wanna get into that. It's all kinda confusing, maybe I'll get into that when I have a more developed brain.

4. I didn't intend for this post to pit trans men and women against each other! I've seen some asks and comments sort of mentioning that and that is NOT what I'm trying to do! I understand if it came off like that, and my response to that is WHOOPS. SORRY. DIDNT MEAN TO DO THAT. LITTERALLY WAS JUST MY TIRED POLITICAL RAMBLE.

5. And this final point is just a quick thanks to everyone whose been constructive and kind about all this :D I genuinely love some of the intrractions that have sprouted from wanting to correct me, so thank you all for that!

"I know it's scary. That's part of it" gets me every time cos that's EXACTLY how I feel about transitioning. Have I left it too long? Am I even trans enough (whatever the fuck that means). I tell myself I've missed my window and then stare back at the tv that's telling me there is still time.

Idk how people are going to react to this post but I think a big thing for me as a trans man is how upsetting it is to have lost access to female only safe spaces. I, as a trans man, still do not feel entirely safe around men because of how I was raised and the life experiences I have had with men. My male privilege and safety within a male group/group containing men gets taken away pretty much the moment they learn I'm trans. I become an anomaly and am no longer safe. I have always felt safer with women. But now I cannot access those spaces anymore. I pass too well as a male to be in them, I wouldn't want to invade that sactity regardless, and I wouldn't want to compromise my masculinity and gender expression to fit in there if allowed. I simply have lost a thing that was a huge part of me and my life while growing up. My female friends don't feel as close knit as we were when I was female. And my male friends never get to the same level of closeness as women do. I feel so lonely in life and I think that's because I've experienced true closeness with people, with women in particular, and have since lost that almost entirely. I'm a man and will always be a man, that's my gender and how I wish to express myself, but sometimes I miss just being one of the girls :/

starting testosterone (and probably hormones in general for trans purposes) is sooo crazy bc u really do get to see in real time that gender is fucking bogus and made up as hell. five months on T i was getting gendered correctly like 60% of the time and incorrectly the other 40% based on god knows what. now (10 months in) im gendered correctly at least 85% of the time if not more but in my head i still look sooo Girl (thx gender dysphoria!) and idk its just. so fucking odd. also amab dudes and especially older men started clocking me as a man WAY before most women and afabs did which is also super strange but worth noting imo. but anyway idk! it’s just so insane to actually experience first hand the utter inconsistency and bullshittery that is gender and gender presentation and watch how i get perceived based on each person/their gender/what im wearing/how im behaving even. like. UGH. as a former sociology major and current anthropology major i find it SO fucking fascinating

I felt disappointed when I found out that they cast a masculine cis man for the role of murderbot in the tv series, it would have been a great occasion to cast any kind of androgynous person
