Thinking about transmasc Dipper who told Stan on the first day to call him "Dipper" and that he's a boy and expects Stan to scoff and continue to refer to him by his deadname...
And Stan is SO onboard. Spends HOURS re-sewing that fishing hat so that Dipper feels wanted. Corrects himself whenever he accidentally refers to them as his "grandnieces". Pokes fun at him the way he used to at Ford, making fun of his masculinity not to belittle him but to encourage him to be more manly.
Stan pulls Ford aside that first night and tells him that if he says anything about Dipper looking or sounding like a girl he'll knock him on his ass. Ford shrugs and goes "excellent, grandnephew it is" (cause the multiverse is very familiar with that concept)
Dipper doesn't just accept the apprenticeship because he wants to learn from Ford, but because in Gravity Falls, he finally feels respected as who he truly is. Mabel always did, but here everyone else is, too.
