there’s an account literally called yourdailyq*eer that i found.  their bio and whole schtick makes me....really uncomfortable. they post a known lgbt person every day as a q*eer of the day (as the name suggests) 

 yes, i have issues with this. now before you become angry with me or annoyed, or try to dismiss me by calling me a terf/exclus/truscum just hear me out.

queer is still a fucking slur, like it or not. many have reclaimed it, but there are plenty who havent. they get these word thrown at them left and right, they have goddamn trauma associated with it. it holds the same weight as d*ke and fag, words that some have reclaimed, but not all. just like queer. 

what i am not okay with is labeling all lgbt people as queer without their consent. did the people posted to this blog ask for this? do they consent to this label? do they call themselves queer? have they reclaimed it? what if the people posted to this haven’t? that is my concern. there are people on the blog that identify as queer, that is not the problem here and not what i’m talking about. im talking about the lesbian/gay/bi/trans/enby people on the blog who dont call themselves queer.

a line in their bio that bothers me the most is, ‘has posted over 2500 queers.’ the wording really sounds off to me and it makes me uncomfortable despite reclaiming the word queer for myself. reading it genuinely gave me discomfort. it’s queers and not queer people. 

call me nitpicky. call me a gatekeeper. i dont care. the reason i bring this up is because i’m not a selfish person who only thinks about my own comfort! queer has not been reclaimed by every single lgbt person. i will not call someone queer unless they themselves have told me its okay. this blog rubs me the wrong way. 

am i saying go attack these people? am i saying they’re wrong? no. behave, like adults, i just want your views and thoughts about this.
