Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion blocking access to Colony Farm for all cyclists from New Westminster. #normstelfoxphotography #transmountainexpansion #transmountainpipeline #transmountain #hubcycling #cycling #newwestminsterbc #metrovancouverregionalparks https://www.instagram.com/p/CMka-kTMIUU/?igshid=ajntlu6fsa4i
Very disappointed in both Trans Mountain and Metro Vancouver for not providing a SAFE detour with access to Colony Farm for cyclists from New Westminster. This gap in pathways now limits all cyclists and their families to very few options for the entire spring and most of the summer. During Covid there has been a doubling of visitors to Colony Farm, and now while pipeline storage is ongoing, cyclists will have to travel to other regional parks in the area. #normstelfoxphotography #transmountain #transmountainpipeline #transmountainexpansion #metrovancouver #hubcycling #cycling https://www.instagram.com/p/CMkY548sMOV/?igshid=17f9uh9axf3e0

#ProtectTheInlet 💧 With your help, Just the Goods is supporting essential civil disobedience led by the Coast Salish peoples against the Trans Mountain pipeline and tanker project in their unceded territories. . It began with the construction of a traditional Coast Salish Watch House — called Kwekwecnewtxw — built in the path of Kinder Morgan’s dangerous diluted bitumen pipeline and tanker project in March of 2018. Since then, tens of thousands have marched in support and more than 200 people have been arrested. The struggle continues both from the Watch House, and to support those who’ve been arrested/charged for protecting the natural environment and all the life it sustains . $168 was donated April 9, another $154 on May 28, and now an additional $182 has been directed to support frontline resistance grounded in Coast Salish spirituality and culture. That's $504, in addition to any money raised by @thegranolagoat, but still only a drop in the bucket in the face of such great need. . With every purchase of Forest Spirit yarrow and cedar face mask, $14 is directed to #ProtecttheInlet. There are 10 jars left, meaning together we can contribute another $140. Find it at justthegoods.net. Or, if you'd like to donate directly, please visit protecttheinlet.ca and give to either Kwekwecnewtxw or the legal defence fund. . 📷: @samrosephillips for the forthcoming documentary, @turningthetidefilm . . #Kwekwecnewtxw #stopKM #NotMyPipeline #TransMountainPipeline #coastsalish #nopipelines #water #waterislife #waterissacred #oilspill #Canada #decolonizenow #coast #coastline #seashore #wanderlust #earthdayeveryday #saveouroceans #stopkm #westcoast #environmentalactivist #protectourseas #burrardinlet #coastalstand #exploreBC #bc #facemask #fundraising (at British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/BrkxCPAAnQv/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1qwvhp5prpggx
The work of Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun powerfully mobilizes Coast Salish cosmology as an aesthetic ground for his production. Frequently, Yuxweluptun does so to challenge colonial ideologies of natural resource extraction, pollution, and the transportation logistics of fossil fuels across First Nation Lands.
In the wake of Canadian govt decision to nationalize the TransMountain Pipeline, I’m spending part of my afternoon looking at Contemporary First Nations artists who have been engaging with issues of sovereignty and resources for decades. Yuxweluptun might be my favorite pursuing this work I've been fortunate enough to view thus far.
