Juno stared at the man in bed with him, watching as the moon tinged so slightly blue by the dome poured in through the window and bathed him in a soft glow. By every right Nureyev should not be here right now.
“Looking for clues, detective?” Nureyev mumbled, not opening his eyes or moving his face from the pillow. Juno huffed and rolled over onto his back, wondering if it would be easier to have an emotionally honest conversation if he wasn’t looking at the beautiful man in bed with him.
Who was he kidding, it was an emotionally honest conversation. It was impossible.
“Yeah, trying to find a clue as to why you’re here,” he said. Nureyev, eyes still close, smiled slowly exposing a sharp tooth.
“Well, you invited me over, we drank an impressive amount of wine, I removed all of your clothes and ravished you several times if memory serves, I think all clues point towards a lovely romantic evening.”
“But why, though?” Juno asked.
“Juno, is this about-”
“You know what it’s about,” Juno said, rolling his eye.
“Again?” Nureyev sighed, finally opening his eyes and sitting up in bed. Juno tried not to be distracted by the way the sheets slipped down exposing one gorgeous hip bone that looked like it had been carved from marble. Shit, he was getting poetic. “Juno, we talked about it. We moved past it.”
“What you should have moved past is me,” Juno said.
“Do you say that to all your dates?”
“What I did…”
“I forgave you for,” Nureyev reminded him. “I’m an adult, I make my own choices.”
“Not very great choices.”
“Juno,” Nureyev sighed again, fixing the detective in a stare. Juno felt twice as naked under that look. “Would it make you feel better to know that I did try to move on?”
“You did?”
“I did,” Nureyev said. “I threw myself into my work, I threw myself into other people, but no one was you Juno and I missed you. I won’t make us talk about the incident again, not after so many apologies and reconciliations because you should know by now that I forgive you, but I need you to look at me and ask yourself if it looks like I’ve moved on from you.”
Juno did look at him, flinching away from the way Nureyev’s gaze never wavered, from the patient warmth in his eyes.
“Ugh,” Juno groaned, turning over to face the wall. Nureyev only leaned down to press a kiss to Juno’s temple.
“The verdict, detective?”
“You love me, I get it. I mean I don’t get it, but I know it’s true.”
“And if you love me you’ll work on getting it,” Nureyev teased. “Now get some sleep. Turbulent emotions don’t do well with alcohol and lack of sleep, we can talk about this in the morning once you’ve had less of both.”
“Alright,” Juno said, leaning back into Nureyev’s arms as the man curved himself around him. “Tomorrow. I’ll hold you to that.”
“Wouldn’t have it any other way,” Nureyev yawned, nuzzling into the back of Juno’s neck as the pair slowly drifted off to sleep.

have you seen campbell scott’s? thoughts on that one? (and what are your favourites? im always looking for other versions to watch :3 )
i rewatched campbell scott’s a few days ago and look. i LOVE it. i dont know why i just do. his hamlet is so.....untheatrical. sardonic. i really dig this version.
the david tennant version is super close to my heart, it was very formative for me so i’m always going to single it out. hamlet at elsinore with christopher plummer is great (and michael caine is.....maybe the best horatio i’ve ever seen). tbh those three are prob my favs - and i also really enjoyed the paapa essiedu rsc version, which i just finished!
