Sometimes, I think of the sun ans the moon as lovers who rarely meet, always chase, and almost always miss one another. But once in a while, they do catch up, and they kiss, and the world stares in awe of their eclipse. _______________________________ #bloodmoon #bluebloodmoon #bigbluebloodmoon #transtition #red #@natgeo #natgeo #nationalgeographic #night #star #stars #slowshutter (at Blood Moon)

Resetting my deck.
The last time I really reset my deck? Well. Feels like 20 years ago. And the primary reason I want to reset them is... Well. I am free of all previous commitments and promises. For the first time, in perhaps my entire lifetime, I can consciously choose, designing my life exactly how I want it. I am not skirting decisions that I made in the past.. I am just saying that I don't believe that I was conscious enough to make many of the decisions I did. Like borrowing tens of thousands of dollars for college, only to get locked into decades of debt repayment. Now that is choice that most other places in the world have figured out how NOT to impose on their youth. But what one country is doing right, they are most certainly doing something else wrong.. but thats for another post another time.
I don’t want a job for the money. I don’t want a partner or their validation. I don’t want any status or title, any home or any car for any reason other than their functionality. I don’t have misperceptions of stability or security and I don’t need an advanced education or a specific set of experiences. You get the idea. I don’t need anything.
Now, the moment I decide that I want or need something, well, than I am going to need some help from other people. However, this is my opportunity to choose exactly what I want to do, and to choose exactly who I want to be a part of it.
Online School Day, Handball and Colds
The great thing about writing is that you don’t have to talk and no one has to see you which isn’t always great but in my case it is. I have been sick with a cold since yesterday after being around a dorm full of this cold. I don’t look the greatest as I sniffle and cough my way through my day. This doesn’t stop me from writing! Especially, since this week has been great. It didn’t start out great and sickness is never fun but I realized something super important this week. I learned that I am content, right now, right here where I am. Transitioning to a new school is never fun and West Africa isn’t the greatest place but that doesn’t stop the people at my school from being the most friendly. I feel like I’m a part of the school and that’s the great thing about small schools. They know you by name. So for people moving into a new school, I have one piece of advice. It’s cliche but true nonetheless. GET INVOLVED. By doing this, you open yourself up to the opportunity of meeting people without having to physically walk up to them and introduce yourself. That can be intimidating sometimes, even for extroverts. You also have something in common with them so there’s always something to talk about. At the same time, people won’t always be talking to you and that’s okay because people always being around you can get tiring.
Today was Online School Day which meant that teachers uploaded homework to a server and we send back our completed homework through the server. This happens once a semester. We don’t have to come to school and get to wake up an hour or so later. There’s no greater satisfaction than doing Biology homework in your jammies. The internet, though, here isn’t the greatest and fifty people trying to watch YouTube videos as homework doesn’t help either. West African problems…I just have one more subject to do (no, it isn’t math) and then I’m done! Even though, we may not have classes or practice there still is handball. We have handball tournaments on Friday and Saturday Nights for three weeks. I’m so glad now that I didn’t sign up because supporting is always better, especially if you’re sick. I also can go to bed whenever I want. I sound like a party pooper but I’m sick so I do have that right.
Overall, I feel great right now which sounds weird since I don’t look it but learning how to be content in every situation helps you feel that way. Also, tea. So that’s it for me this week. Thanks for reading!
