Soda Tab Magic

The thing I have most in abundance! I'm mostly soda at this point ☆I personally see soda tabs to be protective, cos they keep the soda closed and therefore protected ☆I also see them as bringers of wealth! We had those weird drives at our schools where you could bring in soda tabs to raise money or something?? Regardless, people saved up years in advance so. Soda tabs are wealth now ☆Soda tabs also prevent prying! Because people without (and sometimes with. I'll admit, I've got nails so long they look fake and sometimes I can't get the damn things open) can't open the cans ☆So... A soda tab garland is probably gonna look pretty trashy, but hey, they attract wealth, protect the home, and prevent prying, so personally it's worth the trashy aesthetic ☆Keeping a soda tab with you will bring you wealth, esp if it's in your wallet/purse ☆The soda tab from someone else's soda is technically a taglock, but personally I feel like if you keep it you'll be protecting them as well ☆Toss soda tabs in places you want protected. If you're anything like me a soda tab isn't likely to look out of place on your floor ☆Also they're metal so they'll be receptive to energy, so. Charged soda tabs ☆Soda tabs

Time for some Pokemon Go magic! This is to banish or dispell unwanted thoughts, states of mind, energies, people, situations... pretty much anything you can name a pokemon and still keep it within the character limit. You might have to get creative about your naming to make it work. It’s very easy, though!

You catch a lot of lower-level common pokemon in Pokemon Go while training up to be the very best. You can transfer them to Professor Willow for a pokemon candy and you’ll spend a lot of time doing that to keep your inventory clear and get more candy. While you’re at it, why not name the pokemon first before you transfer them? Transfer dysphoria away and you even get a candy in return for it! Combine it with your standard spells or rituals or add whatever gestures or words you feel you need to. It’s basic sympathetic technomagic and you can extend it to do quite a lot--best part is, you keep catching these low-level pokemon while you’re out walking so you’ll always have a steady supply to work this spell with!

It’s happening! My Patreon project now has coloring book pages! This design is decorative as well as magical, and can be used to get inspiration, draw knowledge, and clear writer’s block. It’s also hella aligned with Mercury planetary magic. The printable version of this design, with black lines and white background, is available to all patrons who pay $2 a month. I’ll be doing one or two coloring book pages a month. Once I hit $50 a month in total patron support I will increase that amount!

Also posted for patrons today was an updated copy of the Trash Magic WIP manuscript. Trash Magic now includes a tarot/divination spread called “The Pieces of Your Broken Life,” which helps you sort out your life and put it back together! It’s the first of several spreads I plan to include in Trash Magic, along with other cartomancy shenanigans.

Intuitive Magic

Intuitive is my personal favorite form of magic and is what I rely on the most. It's also the magic many people discover first because it's inherently able to be done without instruction or special materials. Intuitive magic happens via inspiration. You may not even be intending to do magic but may just find yourself setting objects up in a certain way, gathering special ingredients, singing a song that comes to your head, or doing a dance with no prompting whatsoever. Intuitive magic is a kind of magic that happens because some subconscious part of yourself hears the call for it to be done and intuitively knows the way it should be done. Because it is so freeform, there is never any set way that intuitive magic should be performed, and it's very difficult to say where its power comes from because each act of intuitive magic will be different.

Cleansing may make you think of disinfection of objects that have who-knows-what germs on them, but cleansing is a lot more nuanced than that. When it comes to objects that have a history, you may want to preserve the special patina of age and wear that they've built up. You may also want to preserve the history the object carries with it. You can get particular with cleansing and make an object free of the impurities you don't want attached to it while also keeping the essential nature of it.

A Trash Magic excerpt from the section on Internal Work and Shadow Work

Internal work is working with our inner selves to gain strength, knowledge, or healing. It often involves shadow work, a subset of internal work where we face the darker and hidden parts of ourselves. Our shadow selves are the parts that don't exist in the light, either because they're not made for the light or because we're hiding them from scrutiny. The forbidden parts of ourselves, parts considered unsafe for ourselves or for the rest of the world to see. Shadow work can be used to address anything from a minor annoying tendency that we keep falling back on to a fully-fleshed shadow personality that we never let out because we're afraid of the implications.

Trash magic can have a lot of impact when applied to internal and shadow work. Of all the trash in our lives, what we're most ashamed of is usually what we consider the trash in ourselves. In those cases what we're regarding as internal trash isn't garbage at all. Feelings of disgust, despair and hopelessness sometimes attach to valuable parts of ourselves. What would under normal conditions be like an easily cleanable and reusable tupperware container becomes, in our minds, too moldy and smelly and disgusting to even open up to wash out and reuse. Instead we try to throw it out and bury it, no matter how much it costs to replace, no matter how much of a waste that is.

Trash magic makes this easier! Trash magic's approach makes handling trash not only less difficult but an empowering act in and of itself. Much of the effort in recovery work is in making our task easier to accomplish and more palatable to face, and sometimes even going a step further by making it enjoyable. This is the approach that many people use to clean their houses--why not use it to clean the house of the soul?

After this I wrote a section on using cleaning tasks to help make internal work move forward and be more tangible. 15,439 words on garbage written so far. <3

'Trash people' is a blanket concept that basically sums up as: some people in your life you just need to discard entirely. Now, every person has worth and value and every person is a human being with rights, no matter what, and you can't change that and shouldn't try to. But if they're trashing up your life, whether it be through open abuse or passive-aggressive actions, then it's time for them to leave your life and stay in their own world where they can sort their issues out. There is a long list of curses and hexes and banishments and any number of spells out there meant to deal with troublesome people. This section specifically focuses on using trash magic paradigms to take out people-shaped trash, and sometimes even turn them towards a little redemption. (Some trash is recyclable, after all.) You'll notice prevailing themes of banishment and cleansing, since those are things trash magic is particularly good at! One thing I find that trash magic does very well in this field is helping you handle really nasty things that would normally be difficult to face down. It turns such dark and heavy work into a mundane chore. Bothersome, but just like taking out the trash, it becomes a part of everyday life that we get done with and move on from.
