ok so my personal analysis on ikeda's actions in [ Conflagaration ] since some people don't seem to get how it affects kumada [cut for spoilers and long text]
Ok so i know his actions were horrible (like always) but. The way he tried to get back to kumada is just so interesting to me and says a lot about his character.
I've seen people talking about how this doesnt have anything to do with kumada, and that he was going to do something different, but this makes a lot of sense when you think about it; if he would have hurt her physically, it would just have made people dislike ikeda more and for kumada to only concentrate the blame onto ikeda even more, plus, it could have been something she would eventually be able to recover from.
But since he's smart and understands this, (and is also unable to do much physically) he goes for an emotional attack, something that would be harder for kumada to come back from. Just like he says, there is nothing he can say that can hurt her, so he targets what (in my eyes) is most important for kumada: her group, her gang. She is someone who NEEDS to feel in a group, to not feel weak, as we see in her actions, the sense of belonging in a group is her priority. So Ikeda, by doing this, he is basically doing what Kumada did in voter game: splitting the group even further. Just like he says, "thank kumada for that one!" not only is he making kumada feel guilty, but also creating tension between her and the others and making her feel weaker and unsafer, since Kumada's actions are what led to Ikeda's. I think this is specially going to affect her relationship with Sou, since he had been pointing out how she was behaving towards Ikeda until recently.
I also really want to point out how he talks about tsukigata and others and how it ties to his character and interview (as you can see im eating up all the ikeda content) but i'll save that for another post. Anyways is it bad that I kinda love this chernobyl duo it's making Kumada climb onto my favourites.. Waiter give me more Ikeda pararells please.
